Chandrababu Slams Jagan Destroyed Dream Of Polavaram

After taking charge as Chief  Minister, for the first time N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed his anguish over the anarchetic regime of YS Jaganmohan Reddy during his visit to Polavaram project on Monday. Stating that this will be a ‘case study’ for all those who want to know the type of people should not be allowed in politics, particularly in the government as Jagan destroyed the dream of Polavaram project, the life line of Telugu people.

Stating that he was originally planned to complete the project by 2020, but due to defeat in 2019 all the plans were obstructed by Jagan and now the officials are stating that it may not be completed before next four years. He said that several obstructions were created in its way and if everything goes well, it will take four years.

Stating that Jagan made unforgivable mistakes in the Polavaram case, he reminded that when the YCP government came, the reverse tendering system was adopted and the agency was also changed. It was alleged that the coffer dam was washed away due to chaotic works.

Naidu asserted that Polavaram is a people’s project and needs to be completed soon. He reminded that the Center had cautioned Jagan’s regime that there will be no accountability for the project if the agency is changed, but still the agency was changed. He lamented that the agency and the staff were also changed.

Stating that the previous government did not protect the diaphragm wall, he said that the situation may be improved if  repairs were made with 446 crores. It has been revealed that if the diaphragm wall needs to be built in parallel, which will cost Rs.990 crores, he added.

He recalled how he had struggled to bring this project into a main pipeline soon after coming to power in 2014. First, he said he was able to convince the Centre to merge seven mandals from Telangana into this project, which paved the way to start this project without any disputes.

Moreover, he said the project was included in the AP Reorganization Act as a National Project. Chandrababu said that if Polavaram is completed, Godavari water will be taken to Rayalaseema as well. He said that it was thought to give water to every acre with the connectivity of rivers

He lamented that the previous government had wasted thousands of crores of public money in the name of Polavaram project, but nothing substantial was done. Due to abnormal delays in the project, he fears that the cost is likely to escalate to great extent by now.
