Asserting his priority for maintaining law and order in the state, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu made it clear that he was not ready to look like an incompetent chief minister. Discussing law and order with Collectors and SPs, he asked them to work in coordination and make use of modern technology.
Accusing that the previous government ignored law and order and not shown interest in modern technology, he suggested using CC cameras and drones to control crime. He alleged that the previous government used police only to harass opponents and file false cases. He said that over half of 5,000 complaints he received from the public on Sunday were related to land issues only.
He said that land disputes create many problems of law and order and suggested them to take the Madanapalle files burning case as a case study. He said pocession of land gives a sense of security for the common people and several people committing suicide after illegal encroachment of their lands.
The Chief Minister deplored that by making small alterations on computers, during the previous regime several lands were encroached by force. He asked collectors to focus on doing justice to common people by resolving such land grabbing incidents.
Naidu took severe exception to the opposition accusation of 36 political murders in his two months government. Asking police to take such accusations seriously, which were intended to divert public attention from their crimes, he made it clear that no one should be left without punishment for their crimes during the last five years.
Expressing concern that people have suffered a lot in the past five years, Chandrababu said that he wants to give them a peaceful life by ensuring maintenance of law and order. For this, he suggested formulating an action plan. He asserted that he would not fear threats as he had seen rowdyism, naxalism and factionalism from close quarters.
Cautioning that widespread supply of ganja has been leading to several other crimes and making women’s lives miserable, the chief minister said control of ganja should be given highest priority in maintaining law and order.
