Describing the recent rains havoc in the state and floods severity in Vijayawada as the `biggest disaster’ that he has faced in his political career, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said that he will ask the central government to declare the floods in the state as a `national calamity’
“This is the biggest disaster in my career. There have been incidents like Hud Hud cyclone and Titli cyclone. But compared to these, the loss of life and property is more here,” he said. At least 17 people have lost their lives due to rains in AP so far.
He said that all reports related to the calamity will be sent to the Center and generous funds will be requested to recover from the losses. Even though he tried, he deplored that he could not provide help to the last submerged areas in Vijayawada.
Chandrababu lamented that the flood situation turned into a severe crisis due to lack of earth works in the last five years. He recalled that a record flood was recorded at Prakasam Barrage with the worst flood ever in history.
Meanwhile, former chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s comments on floods received numerous trolls on social media. He alleged that a large number of people submerged in Vijayawada as Chandrababu released Krishna water to Budameru to protect his house on the Karakatta.
It may be recalled that both river Krishna and Budameru are two sides of Vijayawada city and the quantum of water released from Krishna was several times more than Budameru water. Many angry people ask Jagan how long he can continue spreading false narrations.
Chandrababu expressed anger over the ignorance of Jaganmohan Reddy that he had released water from Krishna to Budameru to protect his house. He made it clear that he cannot act so irresponsible like Jagan and asserted that he will act with all responsibility.
Responding to the collision of two boats with Prakasam barrage, the Chief Minister said that may have happened by accident. But, he said that, there is a doubt that those who killed Vivekananda Reddy and filmed it due to a heart attack may not hesitate to resort to such evil tactics.
