Referring to nominated posts and other elected positions to the party leaders, Chief Minister and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu made it clear that they will be offered on the basis of their performance, but not on their seniority. “Merely being in the party for two to three decades cannot be taken as an eligibility to offer positions”, he asserted.
Interacting with party top leaders, he said that it is not right to give positions to those who have been in the party for 30-40 years without serving the people and the party. He expressed anger that some MLAs are neglecting the party because they have become MLAs or have received positions.
He cautioned them that they should understand the fact that they are ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs and nominated positions because of the party and behave accordingly. He revealed that they will continue in politics only if they serve the people by strengthening the party.
Chandrababu expressed happiness that TDP is creating new records in membership registration. The membership registration program started on October 26 and the number has reached 73 lakh, of which 85,000 are from Telangana. He held a review with the leaders at the party’s central office on the registration of membership.
The leaders told the CM that Rajampet, Nellore, Kuppam, Palakollu and Mangalagiri constituencies are in the top 5 in terms of membership registration. The CM said that the membership program will create a strong army of activists for the party. He said that one in every four people should become a member of Telugu Desam.
He said that in addition to providing welfare to Telugu Desam activists, a program to empower them politically and economically will be fully implemented. The CM said that programs should be taken to make them financially stable by providing skill development, opportunities, and giving priority to government schemes and programs.
Chandrababu said that steps will be taken to increase the per capita income of activists, not just welfare, for which special programs will be taken. He said that a program to financially stabilize the respective families will also be carried out at all levels of the party.
The CM said that the previous YSRCP government had stopped the water-tree and NREGA bills as part of political gains, and that some bills have already been paid and the remaining amount will be paid soon. Chandrababu took the decision to hand over the solution to the problems of those who are facing difficulties in receiving bills after doing daily work to three ministers.
Ministers Atchannaidu, Payyavula Keshav, and Nimmala Ramanaidu have been given the responsibility of discussing this issue from time to time and ensuring that the bills are sanctioned by the government as per the rules.
