Krishna District: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu on Tuesday inspected a paddy procurement center in Ganguru, Penamaluru constituency, and held discussions with farmers to address their concerns. Speaking to the media later, he outlined stringent measures to improve transparency and curb illegal activities in the procurement process.
The Chief Minister announced plans for surprise inspections at procurement centers, emphasizing strict vigilance on the movement of gunny bags and measures to prevent rice smuggling and recycling. “We will take firm action to eliminate illegal practices. Farmers will have the freedom to sell their produce at any rice mill of their choice, ensuring their convenience,” he stated.
He also assured that the middlemen system would be completely eradicated, ensuring a fair and transparent process for farmers.
**Plans for Silos System to Enhance Farmer Profits**
Chandrababu revealed plans to introduce a silos system to help farmers store their produce and sell it when market conditions are favorable. “The silos system will allow farmers to secure higher prices for their paddy. This initiative will empower them economically,” he said.
Highlighting the success of crop cultivation in the state, he noted that MTU 1262 paddy variety in Krishna district yielded 32,859 metric tons this year compared to 3,582 metric tons last year. “Other districts have also recorded significant improvements in paddy yields,” the Chief Minister added.
