Chandrababu Briefed Governor Nazir on Flood Situation

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu paid a courtesy call on Governor Justice Abdul Nazir at Raj Bhavan in Vijayawada on Sunday evening and brought to the attention of the governor the flood situation due to heavy rains in many parts of the state including Vijayawada. He informed the governor about the damage caused due to heavy rains.

Also, the governor was briefed on the relief and rehabilitation measures undertaken by the state government in the last 8 days. Government sources said that Abdul Nazir has appreciated the steps taken by Chandrababu Naidu by personally supervising the relief measures. Governor expressed hope that very soon the state and Vijayawada situation will return to normalcy.

Meanwhile, Irrigation  Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu has clarified that the Budameru water level is increasing due to the overflowing Pulivagu. According to the increased water level, the Minister is monitoring the work of raising the height of Budameru Gandla dams even in the rain at night.

Chief Minister has congratulated Minister Rama Naidu in the meeting of officers and ministers. Naidu said that the minister irrigation officials have done exemplary work on war footing and filled the breaches at a record time.

The minister said that Chief Minister Chandrababu has inquired about how much height the embankment has been raised. The minister said that the CM advised to raise the height of the Budameru embankment to the full extent and strengthen it and cautioned that there is a possibility of more flood and to be on alert for two more days.

Officials are alerted as it is raining once again in AP due to the effect of low pressure in the Bay of Bengal. The Government has been on alert after the Meteorological Department has also warned of heavy rains. CM Chandrababu alerted the district collectors and authorities about the situation in the respective districts in a teleconference.

Besides taking all precautions and shifting people to relief camps if there is a danger of submersion, the Chief Minister asked them to alert people from time to time on rain and flood situations through mobile messages.
