Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday directed his ministers and party leaders to address concerns raised by Telangana over the Polavaram–Banakacharla link project. Speaking during a Cabinet meeting held at the State Secretariat, the Chief Minister clarified that the project utilizes only surplus floodwaters and does not pose any harm to Telangana.
“There is no loss to Telangana due to this project. Several projects have been undertaken in Telangana without obtaining prior approvals, yet no objections were raised from our side. The objections now being raised are politically motivated,” Naidu said. He urged ministers and senior leaders to take the responsibility of explaining the facts to the public and counter misinformation.
The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet approved 42 agenda items during the meeting. Discussions also included key political matters, as well as administrative and developmental strategies.
On the Amaravati capital front, the Cabinet deliberated on the second phase of land acquisition and resolved to apply the same guidelines used in the first phase. Under the “First Step Towards Good Governance” initiative, the Cabinet approved the launch of district-level programmes led by in-charge ministers, followed by constituency-level initiatives.
Chief Minister Naidu also set a clear target to resolve all revenue-related issues within a year. He warned against using technical challenges as excuses and said officials facing genuine difficulties can approach him directly. “I will personally monitor progress on revenue issues,” he stated.
The Cabinet also finalized a public outreach programme to highlight the achievements of the coalition government in its first year. Starting July 1, MLAs will lead the campaign across constituencies.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved the formation of a special committee to oversee the operation of Anna Canteens and manage related donations.
