Both CEO Mukesh Kumar Meena and DGP Harish Kumar Gupta in their reports to the Election Commission of India (ECI) has assured that efforts are going on and Macherla MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy will be arrested very soon in the case of EVM vandalism.
CEO Meena in his report to the ECI said that Reddy will be arrested as soon as possible. He stated presently the MLA is absconding and eight police teams are searching for him. He was responding to the notice sent by ECI expressing anger over Pinnella’s poll- related violence in Macherla.
On the other hand, DGP Harish Kumar Gupta also gave an explanatory report to the CEO with the matters mentioned by the MLA’s arrest, registration of cases and the SIT. It seems that the report was forwarded to the ECI as it is. DGP also stated in his report that the MLA will be arrested soon. He said that 4 teams led by additional SP and another 4 teams led by DSP are on the way to arrest the MLA.
Referring to the possibility of Pinnelli escaping to some foreign country, DGP said that a look out notice was issued and all the air ports were alerted. He said that along with MLA Pinnelli, his two followers Y. Srinivasa Reddy and G Srinivasulu Reddy have been named as 2 and 3 accused in this incident.
The DGP has also attached to his report the observations of the SIT, which found serious lapses in the investigation of the local police. They mentioned that Panchnama was not done in this incident.
Moreover, the investigation officer who is supposed to investigate did not take any statements from the witnesses. The report revealed that the SIT clarified that at least 202 presiding officers of the polling center were not investigated.
