The central government has given its in-principle approval for the construction of an elevator corridor on Srisailam Ghat Road. It is believed that the center has accepted the state government’s proposal to construct an elevator corridor of about 10 kilometers in the reserve forest area as an alternative to the road leading to Srisailam.
A key meeting will be held on the 22nd of this month under the chairmanship of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on the proposals for the construction of the Srisailam elevated corridor and other issues related to the Roads and Buildings Department.
Senior officials of the Roads and Buildings Department from the central government, senior officials of the National Highways Authority (NHA), as well as state R&B officials, Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) officials, and Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMRL) officials are preparing to attend the meeting.
State Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy recently met Union Roads and Buildings Minister Nitin Gadkari in Delhi and discussed the issues of road network connectivity, modernization of National Highways related to Telangana State, free accidents potential. On this occasion, the proposals of the state government were brought to the attention of the Center.
Union Minister Gadkari assured to organize a meeting with the Central and State officials as well as National Highway officials soon on this. Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy brought the proposals of the state government to the attention of the Central Government stating that there is a need to increase the road network connectivity of the fast-growing Telangana State with neighboring states.
In the context of the expansion of the twin cities and suburbs of Hyderabad, he explained to Union Minister Gadkari the importance of constructing radial roads between the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and the Regional Ring Road (RRR).
He requested the Centre to bring to the attention of the problems arising due to the reserve forest on the road to the Srisailam Shiva Temple, known as Dakshina Kashi, and to construct an elevator corridor of at least 10 kilometers on the reserve forest to protect the environment.
In his petition to the Centre, Minister Komatireddy suggested the need to construct a 10-lane greenfield highway from Hyderabad to Vijayawada and some flyover bridges as part of accident-free roads.
