Central Scheme Puts Spotlight on Annamayya!

Annamayya district has received a significant boon. Recently, the government included this initiative under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana’ scheme. Notably, it targets 100 backward districts across the country, including Annamayya district. Moreover, the program combines 36 schemes from 11 central ministries to deliver comprehensive benefits to farmers.

Furthermore, the scheme will receive a share from the Rs. 24,000 crore annual budget allocated for its implementation. It is designed to run for six years, starting from the financial year 2025-26. Importantly, at least one district from each state will participate. Consequently, the government will select districts with low productivity, small cultivated areas, and limited credit use. Subsequently, it will provide targeted support to raise their performance to match other districts.

According to the Center, 1.7 crore farmers will benefit from this initiative. Specifically, Annamayya district will receive a portion of the Rs. 24,000 crore allocated for this program across the country. To ensure accountability, the government monitors the scheme using 117 key indicators displayed on a digital dashboard. Additionally, officials review the dashboard monthly for effective progress tracking.

Meanwhile, NITI Aayog will also review and provide guidance from time to time. In line with this, the government appointed Amit Singh, Joint Secretary of the Department of Corporate Affairs, as the district’s Central Nodal Officer. He will, therefore, oversee the scheme’s implementation. Following the Center’s guidelines, district-level authorities are preparing a detailed plan to execute the program effectively.

Earlier, the district conducted a key meeting on this initiative. Subsequently, in the second phase, District Collector Nishant Kumar held another meeting. During this meeting, he provided clear directions to officials for effective implementation. Moreover, following Prime Minister Modi’s formal launch, officials are preparing to implement the program at the field level starting the first week of November.

Furthermore, District Agriculture Officer Shivnarayana stated that the district will form a Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana Samiti comprising progressive farmers and officials, which will provide significant benefits to the farming community. In addition, he mentioned that state and national-level committees will monitor the implementation of district-level plans to ensure optimal outcomes.
