Center To set up ESI Super Speciality Hospital In Amaravati

The central government has given in-principle approval for the establishment of a medical college with 500-bed ESI secondary care hospital and 150-bed super specialty beds in the capital Amaravati.

During the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, the ESI super specialty hospital went to Telangana after the bifurcation. Since there was no hospital of that level in AP. So it was decided to set up a new one in Amaravati. The state government recently proposed it and the center responded positively.

It has agreed to set up an ESI hospital in Amravati, just like the one built in Hyderabad. The ESI Corporation has formed a special committee to submit a report regarding the establishment of a hospital and medical college in Amravati. To this extent, the committee will submit its report to the central government’s ESI Corporation.

However, according to MCI rules, 25 acres should be available for the establishment of a medical college, and according to ESIC rules, 10 acres should be available for the construction of a 500-bed hospital. To this extent, the AP government will allocate those lands.

If the construction and management of this hospital is handed over to the ESI Corporation, the state government will not have to incur any expenditure. It is said that if the state wants to manage this hospital itself, it will have to bear 1/8th of the contract cost.

Meanwhile, after the formation of the new government the development work has been getting momentum in Amaravati. National highways and railways are already coming to the capital. IT companies, hotels, educational institutions and industries are coming in the coming days.

Employees employed in these companies in the capital will come under the ESI. If there are a total of 14,55,987 ESI employees across the state, there are more than 4 lakhs in the cities of Vijayawada and Guntur. The number of these employees is likely to increase further. That is why this hospital is being set up in Amaravati keeping them in mind. Moreover, work related to hospitals has been accelerated in many districts across the state.
