The Center has focused on the unresolved issues in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act. As part of this, the Amaravati-Hyderabad Greenfield Express Highway will be taken up for planning. The Union Home Ministry has ordered the roads and surface transport to start expeditious measures for the preparation of a comprehensive project report.
With this, the Amaravati Ring Road and the northern part of the Hyderabad Regional Ring will be given permission in a hurry. Key decisions were taken in the Union Home Ministry meeting held on the 3rd of last month with top government officials.
The meeting discussed at length many issues including the division of AP SFC, distribution of corporations and companies in Schedule 9 of the Reorganization Act, division of institutions in Schedule 10, sharing of debts of foreign loan assistance projects, road, rail, and education. It has been decided to meet once every two months from now on.
A greenfield refinery cum petrochemical complex has already been approved in AP. The Home Ministry has ordered the Petroleum Ministry to examine the AP proposal to set up another refinery. The Railway Board has announced that the Visakhapatnam Special Railway Zone operations will start in two years. The Railways Ministry will examine the establishment of the Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Hyderabad-Kurnool corridor.
The process of releasing another Rs. 350 crore pending to AP regarding the grant provided to backward districts has begun.
Officials of the Union Ports and Shipping Ministry have revealed that an interim report has already been received regarding the construction of the port at Dugarajapatnam and that the full project report will be received in a few days and based on that, they will move forward.
The Center has ordered the issuance of orders on the division of assets of about 53 corporations and companies in Schedule 9. The Union Home Ministry will write a letter to the CAG for a speedy resolution regarding the funds received by the combined Andhra Pradesh under the Centrally Sponsored Schemes.
It has also been decided to ask the CAG to resolve the issue of reimbursement of the expenses incurred by Telangana on the management of joint institutions as soon as possible.
Officials of the Union Agriculture Ministry revealed that Rs 135 crore has already been released for the establishment of an agricultural university in AP, but the proposal made by AP to establish a Pusa South Campus is under consideration. The Chairman of the Airport Authority of India revealed that international services have already become available at Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam airports.
The Vijayawada-Visakha Metroline project, and the expansion work of the two airports will be completed as soon as possible. The AP requested that DPRs be prepared and permissions be given as soon as possible for the Amaravati- Anantapur Expressway, and the Union Home Ministry has also instructed the relevant department to complete it as soon as possible.
Officials of the Union Roads and Surface Transport Ministry revealed that the alignment of the proposal to build the Amaravati Ring Road with a length of 70 meters in 6 lanes as planned has already been completed and it will go to the Union Cabinet for approval in another four months. Officials of the Union Urban Development Ministry revealed that more information is yet to be received for the Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam Metroline projects.
