Center Adjusted Rs 2,547 Crore Towards Debts Cleared By AP For  Telangana

In the prevailing peculiar political combinations at the Center, Andhra Pradesh is continuing receiving special financial assistance from the Narendra Modi-led government, which was unusual earlier. The Center has adjusted Rs 2,547 crore towards debts cleared by the state for Telangana, as part of bifurcation commitments.

Towards various projects undertaken by the combined Andhra Pradesh government with external (foreign) financial assistance, even after bifurcation of the state, Andhra Pradesh government is bound to repay some of those loans. Even though these projects are in Telangana, as the debts have not been divided, their payments are being made from Andhra Pradesh’s account.

Andhra Pradesh has been insisting on adjusting these funds since time immemorial. This topic has been mentioned on many platforms in the past as well. Now, the center came forward to adjust Rs 2,547 crore funds. It means that the center has re-deposited the debt previously paid by AP on behalf of Telangana. This response from the Center gives some relief to the financially weakened state.

On the other hand, it seems that the Chief Ministers of two Telugu states are going to share the same stage, probably for the first time after 2024 elections. There is a possibility that the two CMs will meet this month itself.

Both Chandrababu Naidu and Revanth Reddy are participating in the 20th anniversary of Shanti Sarovar on 25th of this month. Recently, it has been learned that the Brahmakumaris have invited both of them for this programme. However, official confirmation on the participation of two chief ministers is yet to be finalised.

It may be recalled that two Chief Ministers have met in Hyderabad last month on the invitation of Revanth Reddy to resolve bifurcation issues. They have decided to form official level and ministerial level committees to discuss those issues. But, the follow up is yet to be made.
