Caste census Resurvey In Telangana From Today

Details of those who did not participate in the comprehensive caste census in the past will be recorded in the resurvey begins in Telangana from Sunday. The Planning Department has made arrangements to record the details of those who voluntarily came forward and asked. A toll-free number 040-21111111 has been set up for the caste census.

If you call that number, enumerators will come to your home and record the details, said Planning Department Principal Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania. He said that people in rural areas can go to MPDO offices, ward and division offices in towns and cities and record comprehensive family details. He explained that there will be trained enumerators there.

He said that the form can be downloaded from the Kulsarve website, filled and submitted at the Public Administration Service Centers. On February 4, the Cabinet and on 16th the Assembly passed a resolution to conduct a house-to-house survey in the state and study social, economic, political, educational, employment and caste.

A cabinet sub-committee was formed on September 12 with six ministers as its chairman to finalize the procedures required for the house-to-house survey caste enumeration. As per the recommendations of the cabinet sub-committee, the government entrusted the responsibility of conducting the survey to the Planning Department.

Since November 6, about one lakh enumerators have conducted a house-to-house social, economic, political, educational, employment and caste study with 76 questions across the state. The survey was completed in the first week of December. The government announced that 96.90 percent of the survey was completed across the state and the details of 3,54,77,554 people were recorded.

However, due to some not being interested in participating in the survey, others not being available at home and the lack of enumerators in some places, the details of about 16 lakh people belonging to 3,56,323 families across the state could not be recorded.

The government has decided to give another opportunity to the remaining 3.10 percent to participate in the survey. Arrangements have been made to conduct the survey from today to the 28th of this month. The state government says that decisions on reservations as well as welfare schemes will be taken based on the house-to-house survey.
