C.P. Radhakrishnan Elected 15th Vice President of India

C.P. Radhakrishnan, the NDA-supported candidate, has won as the 15th Vice President of India. In a comprehensive victory, he defeated his primary challenger, Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy, a retired Supreme Court judge of the INDIAbloc, by a heavy margin.

Radhakrishnan, who was overwhelmingly supported by members of both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, polled 452 votes. He will take oath on Friday, the 12th of the month. As many as 767 Members of Parliament voted, though 15 votes were invalid. Radhakrishnan’s win was comprehensive with Sudarshan Reddy getting 300 votes.
