Hyderabad: In a major setback for the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Telangana, MLA Kale Yadaiah from Chevella joined the ruling Congress party on Friday. Yadaiah switched sides in the presence of Chief Minister and PCC President A Revanth Reddy, AICC incharge of Telangana affairs Deepa Dasmunsi, and other leaders in Delhi. He becomes the sixth BRS MLA to defect to the Congress since the party came to power after last year’s Legislative Assembly elections.
Yadaiah’s move follows Jagtial MLA Sanjay Kumar’s switch to Congress on June 23, with earlier defections including BRS MLAs Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Kadiam Srihari, Danam Nagender, and Tellam Venkat Rao. BRS Working President KT Rama Rao expressed discontent over the defections, recalling similar occurrences during Congress’s previous rule, while Revanth Reddy criticized BRS for fostering defections during its own tenure.
