BRS Reaffirms Support for BC Reservations, Slams Neglect of Key Infrastructure Projects

BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) has termed the upcoming Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election as a public referendum on the Congress government’s governance, law and order, and credibility in Telangana. He made the remarks during a meeting at Telangana Bhavan on Sunday, organized to welcome leaders from other parties who recently joined the BRS.

KTR criticized the Congress government for halting key development projects over the past two years and engaging in “bulldozer politics” against the people. He alleged that the party misled citizens with fraudulent “420 promises” and called on the public to reject their theatrics. He warned that a Congress victory in the by-election would embolden the party to completely scrap welfare and development programs initiated by the previous BRS government. “Only by defeating Congress will there be pressure on them to fulfill at least some of their promises,” he said.

Addressing administrative issues, KTR claimed that under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the state has witnessed chaos and ineffective governance. He criticized the government for failing to implement citizen-centric initiatives, stating, “Since Congress came to power, Hyderabad’s progress and Telangana’s overall development have come to a complete halt.” He further alleged that ministers are engaged in internal power struggles and fighting over commissions rather than focusing on public welfare, raising concerns about the state’s governance.

On backward class (BC) reservations, KTR accused the Congress government of misleading BC communities and issuing unconstitutional announcements that could not withstand judicial scrutiny. He challenged both Congress and BJP to genuinely support BC empowerment through constitutional amendments in Parliament, while affirming BRS’s full support for national parties’ efforts to provide 42% reservations for BCs. KTR also criticized the government for neglecting key infrastructure projects such as the Airport Metro Express and Metro Phase-2, and alleged that the Future City project prioritizes increasing land value for Congress leaders over public transport and city development.
