BRS panel Led By Former Minister Niranjan Reddy To study Farmer suicides, Agricultural crisis In Telangana

The BRS party has formed a 9-member study committee on the alarming levels of farmer suicides and agricultural crisis in the state. This was announced by party working president KT Rama Rao.

KTR said that this committee, headed by former state agriculture minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy, will travel to all districts across the state and study the dire situation at the field level and submit a report to the government, the agriculture minister, the agriculture commission and BRS chief KCR.

Other members of the panel are former ministers Satyavathi Rathod, Jogu Ramanna, Puvvada Ajay, MLCs MC Kotireddy, Yadava Reddy, and former MLAs Bajireddy Govardhan, Rasamayi Balakishan, and Anjaiah Yadav.

KTR said that they will travel extensively for two weeks and prepare a report on the main reasons leading to farmer suicides and the conditions leading to the agricultural crisis in the state since last year. They will meet small, marginal and tenant farmers at the field level and understand their problems.

KTR expressed his concern that suicides have increased drastically during the one-year rule of the Congress, which came to power after making many promises to the state’s farmers. He said that the state is facing a worrying situation where more than 400 farmers have already committed suicide.

He deplored that the state government has not waived off at least 30 percent of the farmer loan, stopped the Rythu Bandhu scheme that has been provided to farmers for several years, and also revoked the Rs. 15,000 farmer guarantee that was promised to be given to farmers, which has led to farmer suicides.

He lamented that the farmers are in deep crisis because the government has completely abandoned the issue of free electricity supply and timely irrigation facilities for the agricultural sector. He criticized that the state’s agricultural sector has completely disintegrated due to the anti-farmer policies adopted by the Congress.

KTR said that this study committee was formed with the good intention of playing its role as the main opposition party to guide the state government, which is ignoring the farmers and the agricultural sector. He said that the BRS party, which has worked for 10 years with the aim of making the farmer king, is trying to bring the current situation in the state to the attention of the government.

He said that after extensive tours and studies, this report prepared by the party will be submitted to the government and the state government will be held accountable for the implementation of the promises made to the farmers on their problems in the upcoming budget meetings.
