BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha has strongly criticized the BJP-led central government, stating that its lack of commitment to Telangana has once again been exposed. Reacting to the Union Budget, she alleged that the Centre has done severe injustice to the state by failing to allocate any significant funds. Despite both the BJP and Congress having eight MPs each from Telangana, she said neither party had delivered any concrete benefits to the state. She also accused the Congress of demonstrating its inefficiency in securing funds for Telangana.
Kavitha pointed out that the budget had no allocations for Telangana-specific projects, with no national status granted to irrigation projects or the Sammakka-Sarakka Jatara. She highlighted the Centre’s announcement of ₹1.50 lakh crore in interest-free loans and urged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to ensure Telangana receives its rightful share.
Criticizing the Centre’s failure to establish an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Telangana despite long-standing demands, Kavitha also expressed concern over the lack of increased funding for employment guarantee schemes. She accused the central government of neglecting key sectors, including agriculture, women’s empowerment, and public welfare. Highlighting the inadequate budgetary support for education, she stated that only 2.5% of the budget was allocated to the sector, whereas at least 6% should have been earmarked.
On the Turmeric Board issue, Kavitha alleged that while the BJP had claimed to have established the board, no funds were allocated for its operations. She pointed out that the Centre had allocated funds for spice, tea, coffee, and rubber boards but ignored the Turmeric Board. She accused the central government of betraying Nizamabad’s farmers by failing to allocate funds, despite their long-standing demand.
