The murder case of former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy, who is uncle of chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy, is occupying prime place in the election campaign, particularly in undivided Kadapa district. As Kadapa sitting MP and cousin brother of chief minister YS Avinash Reddy is named as prime accused in the case by the CBI, it became an embarrassment for him as he is contesting again from here.
Moreover, chief minister’s sister YS Sharmila is contesting from here as Congress candidate, stating that her fight is to seek justice in this murder case to her cousin sister and daughter of Vivekananda Reddy Dr Sunitha.
The ruling party locked in defensive as both Sharmila and Sunitha accused Jagan Mohan Reddy fielding an accused in the murder case as his party candidate. Naturally the opposition parties also took it as an advantage.
In this context, the YCP leaders approached the Kadapa court and got an order prohibiting opposition leaders from raising the issue of Vivekananda Reddy’s murder case in their election campaign. The court in its order on Thursday particularly named Sharmila, Sunitha, Chandrababu Naidu, Pawan Kalyan, Nara Lokesh and D Purandeshwari, directing them that they should not talk about this case.
But expressing her concern over the court directive, Dr Sunita is getting ready to challenge the order of the Kadapa court in the High Court. To this extent, Sunitha disclosed this in a door-to-door campaign in Pulivendula on Friday.
She said that she is going to file a petition in the High Court soon. On the other hand, Sunitha alleged that YSP leaders are threatening those who help them in Pulivendula constituency knowing that she will go to the High Court.
She deplored that the Kadapa court issued interim orders even without hearing the arguments of the defendants. Sunitha asked the people of Pulivendula not to vote for the accused in the YS Viveka murder case. She specifically asked to vote for YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s daughter Sharmila and send her to Parliament.
