TDP National General Secretary Nara Lokesh has challenged the letter written by the Inspector General of Vigilance and Enforcement, Kolli Raghuramireddy seeking unlimited powers for all gazetted officers working in his department, so that they can go to any office in the state for searches.
Based on that letter, Lokesh approached the AP High Court seeking a direction asking the government to stop the further steps to be taken on this letter. Based on the letter written by Raghurami Reddy on February 5 this year, Lokesh has also urged the High Court to declare the actions taken, on the basis of this letter, so far as illegal.
Lokesh deplored that the government’s sole intention is targeting TDP leaders and supporters in the elections and implicating them in false cases. He accused that Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy is using senior IPS officer Kolli Raghurami Reddy to terrorise TDP cadre.
He said that it is absurd to ask the Inspector General of Vigilance and Enforcement to provide prosecution and quasi-judicial powers for his officers. He reminded that the Vigilance and Enforcement Department will only conduct investigations and give a report.
He feared that providing unlimited powers to this department in the case of private individuals and organizations may lead to misuse of official machinery for political purposes at an unimaginable scale.
He said that asking them to provide them with the authority to carry out inspections under all 13 laws like AP GST, VAT, Excise, Registration, Stamps, Mines, etc. would be a violation of those laws.
He alleged that Kolli Raghurami Reddy made this kind of appeal because of his close proximity with CM Jagan Mohan Reddy. Taking all these factors into consideration, in his petition Lokesh sought the High Court to block all further steps taken by the government based on the letter.
Pawan Kalyan’s constituency remains a mystery!
Even after three parties- TDP, Jana Sena and BJP have almost completed the process of seats sharing, after deciding to form an formidable alliance to defeat YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s `misrule’ in the state, the constituency to be contested by Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan remained a mystery.
He has been sending conflicting signals on this issue. In the 2019 elections after contesting from two constituencies- Gajuwaka and Bhimavaram, he was defeated in both the constituencies. So, this time it is said that he is extra cautious in deciding his constituency.
Till recently it was felt he is likely to contest from Pithapuram, near Kakinada, besides Gajuwaka. His party leaders indicated that he is unlikely to contest again from Bhimavaram. But his emotional sentiments expressed on Tuesday at the time of former MLA Pulavarthy Ramanujaneyulu joining his party, indicating that he is still considering contesting from this constituency.
As a former MLA is joining the party, everyone expected he will be Jana Sena’s possible candidate from Bhimavaram. But surprisingly he urged Pawan Kalyan to contest again from here.
In clear terms, he has indicated his emotional attachment with this constituency. He said “I have been trying since 2019 to come to Bhimavaram and stay permanently. But the local people are afraid to sell or lease the land or house due to the fear of the MLA. If this is the case for a person like me, can one imagine the situation of common people?”.
His emotions indicate that he is still considering contesting from Bhimavaram. In his own words, Bhimavaram is known for the most rich people in the state. He deplored that such a town was put in the hands of a rowdy (YCP MLA Grandhi Srinivas) in 2019.
He felt that the people there are now realizing for themselves what it is like to make a street bully an MLA. “Cases of illegal SC and ST atrocities have increased due to this MLA in Bhimavaram. I only want Ramanjaneyulu. If you show me a place in Bhimavaram, I will buy it. Let’s set up an office there. I will focus on curbing the rowdyism there”, he added.
Pawan Kalyan assured that he will keep Bhimavaram in his heart and this will be his place forever. He has given a fervent call to work bravely not to elect such a person again in the next election. In the last election, he said that many people supported Grandhi Srinivas in the sense that he is their relative and a person of their caste.
But, Jana Sena supremo warned that there is only war in politics. There is no kinship. If our relative attacks people unjustly, will we support him?, he asked. He expressed confidence that this time they will win this seat no matter how many crores of rupees YCP pours in.
