100 Days Of Congress Rule 180 Farmers Commits Suicide

During first 100 days of Congress rule in Telangana, as many as 180 farmers commits suicide, claims former finance minister and senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao. Farmers, who are happy during 10-year BRS regime, he allged are now in a most miserable condition and pushed into debt trap, as the Congress party cheated them.

Though thousands of acres are drying up due to the government’s failure, he deplored the state government failing to swing into their rescue. Along with former deputy chief minister and Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari and former minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao, he toured Devaruppula mandal of Janagama district, interacting with the farmers.

They examined Irrigated or dry crops. On this occasion the farmers explained their sufferings. Later, he told the media that the government has failed to provide water by pumping it through the wells. He criticized the Congress government for not fulfilling any of the promises given to the farmers in the election promises.

He lamented that Congress leaders showed the heaven in the palm of their hands and now they are showing a stubborn hand. “Congress has come to power for over 100 days and has cheated the people by not fulfilling its promises. Congress has not waived a single rupee of crop loan”, he added.

The farmer’s relative deplored that Congress promised to give Rs 15000 per acre under Rythu Bandhu, but even the previous Rs 10,000 was not released till now. Farmers are getting into debt by digging new boreholes. The Congress also cheated them by promising Rythu Bandhu to tenant farmers, they added.

Expressing anger over irregular power supply by the present government, farmers say that they do not know when electricity will come and when it will go out. Congress cheated the farmers at every step. The crop has dried up in 20 lakh acres across the state.

Harish Rao wondered that the Chief Minister and Ministers have no time even to console the suffering farmers. While the farmers are falling like quails, not a single minister or chief minister has gone astray. “The Chief Minister has time to go to the houses of the opposition leaders to lure our MLAs, but not to the farmers”, he added.

He advised Revanth Reddy that “You have to open not the political party gates.. open the gates of the projects and give water to the farmers. Crop loss compensation of Rs.25 thousand per acre should be given”.

Why Jagan In A Huge Dilemma Over That ‘One’ Seat ?

The YSR Congress party under the leadership of CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy sprung a surprise when candidates for all 175 assembly and 24 parliament seats were announced at a time without much wavering like other parties. More surprising is that the party didn’t announce the candidature for only one seat, that is Anakapalli MP segment.

Is there any underlying strategy of YSRCP for not finalizing the candidate for this one seat? This has been the point of discussion among the political circles.

In 2019 elections, the YSRCP clinched the Anakapalli parliament seat with a decisive victory as Bhisetti Venkata Satyavathi romped home with a huge mandate. However, YS Jagan is not willing to retain her this time due to poor feedback from the internal survey reports done by the party. Moreover, she said to has not evinced interest to contest this time. Reportedly, the party’s high command wants to field a candidate with a strong financial background to counter the NDA alliance and the huge anti-incumbency wave.

Though it was initially speculated that Pawan Kalyan’s brother Naga Babu would be fielded by the alliance, sources revealed that the TDP and Janasena agreed to allot the Anakapalli MP to the Bharatiya Janata party as part of the tripartite deal between the three parties. BJP Leaders like CM Ramesh and GVL Narasimha Rao are the forerunners to contest on behalf of the alliance from this segment. As per pre-poll surveys, the alliance is likely to emerge victorious from the seat of Anakapalli.

So, Jagan Mohan Reddy wants to pitch in a strong candidate from his party who can pose a big challenge for the alliance here. Deputy CM Budi Mutyalanaidu was initially considered for this seat. However, his name was announced for Madugula MLA seat because he expressed his unwillingness to contest as MP. The name of Peela Rama Kumari, director of the famous milk industry, Vishaka Dairy, also came up for discussion. But the uncertainty over her candidature continues even till today. Jagan is still in huge confusion about selecting a suitable candidate for this particular seat.

The YSRCP, which has no problem in finalizing the candidates for all assembly and MP seats much earlier than the NDA alliance, is involved in a lot of brainstorming sessions only to announce the contestant for the Anakapalli seat.

YCP  MLA Joins BJP To Contest As Tirupati MP

In Andhra Pradesh, the ruling YSRCP got another rude shock with its senior leader and Gudur MLA has taken a dig at the BJP. Gudur MLA Vara Prasad joined BJP on Sunday at New Delhi, in the presence of Union Minister Anurag Tagore and National General Secretary Vinod Tawde.

Interestingly, he has joined BJP after the party cleared his name last night as its Tirupati Lok Sabha candidate. In 2019 elections, he contested from here as Praja Rajyam candidate, but was defeated. But, he had won the same seat in 2014 election as a YSRCP candidate.

But in the 2019 polls, YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy fielded him from Gudur assembly and had won in the polls.  But since then some gap developed with the chief minister, as he was not offered a ministerial berth. Moreover, he became angry after not re-nominating him in the present election, by fielding Muralidhara Rao from here as the ruling party candidate.

For the last few days, he has been bargaining with TDP, Jana Sena and BJP leaders to contest in the polls. As the alliance allocated Tirupati seat to BJP, he directly contacted top BJP leaders and got their approval to contest as their candidate.

He is a former IAS officer and emerged as a good lobbyist. Incidentally, the neighboring Nellore Lok Sabha constituency also, YCPs Rajya Sabha member Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy is contesting as TDP candidate. He too recently quit YSRCP and joined TDP.

In Nellore district already three YSRCP MLAs joined TDP. Thus, in the former combined Nellore district, where YSRCP had won all the seats in 2019 elections, is not facing a severe crisis of leadership. As a last resort, Jaganmohan Reddy forced party parliamentary group chief Vijayasai Reddy to contest for Nellore Lok Sabha.

With the last minute entry of Vara Prasad into the party, two more retired IAS officers, who were already in the party and aspiring for Tirupati seat, shattered their hopes. They are Dr Dasari Srinivasulu, who has been in the party since his retirement seven years ago and practically residing in Tirupati and former Karnataka chief secretary Ratna Prabha, who lost in the by-poll.

Congress Seeks SC Monitored SIT Probe Into BJP’s Post-Bonds Contracts

The Congress alleged that as many as 38 corporate groups had received 179 major contracts, worth Rs 3.8 lakh crore, from the Centre and BJP-led state governments, after making donations worth Rs 2,004 crore through electoral bonds.

Congress communications chief Jairam Ramesh described this as quid pro quo, extortion and bribery of three kinds – “pre-paid”, “post-paid” and “post-raid”. He said a special investigation team (SIT) should be formed immediately for a Supreme Court-monitored probe into all the instances of misuse of power, extortion and quid pro quo.

Trying to alter the electoral discourse, currently revolving round the BJP’s “400-plus” and “Modi’s guarantee” slogans, Ramesh said such a court-monitored SIT would indeed be constituted after a non-BJP government was formed at the Centre.

He said there would be separate SITs for the PM Cares Fund that received money from government departments and employees as well as private companies, including Chinese firms, but has been kept out of the purview of the CAG and the Right to Information Act.

Ramesh said a joint parliamentary committee will be formed to probe “Modani” — the Congress’s shorthand for an alleged Modi-Adani nexus. While such comments are aimed at contesting the perception about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “invincibility”, the Congress also intends to put Modi in the dock with corruption charges.

“Modi himself designed the electoral bond scheme. The opaque scheme ensured that pre-paid bribes, post-paid bribes and post-raid bribes could now be routed through the banking channel as electoral bonds,” Ramesh said.

“Essentially, this is the Prime Minister who gave a guarantee of bringing back black money, (but) instead legalised corruption and then desperately tried to hide it.” He added: “A Prime Minister who is not ready to give a legal guarantee for MSPs (minimum support prices) to farmers secretly gave a legal guarantee for bribery and extortion.”

CM Kejriwal Issues First Order From ED Custody

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Delhi excise policy case, has issued his first order since his arrest. This comes as the AAP insists the chief minister will not resign and will run the state from prison.

He issued the order through a note for the Water Department.  Kejriwal was arrested on March 21 in connection with the money laundering case linked to alleged liquor scam in Delhi. He was sent to six days of Enforcement Directorate custody.

Addressing a press conference, Minister Atishi said that Kejriwal is concerned about the people of Delhi and has given appropriate orders related to shortage of water during the summer season.

“Kejriwal, as Water Minister, has sent instructions from ED custody. The people of Delhi should not face shortage of water. He gave appropriate orders to the Chief Secretary and officials so that the people of Delhi should not face any problem. There should be no shortage of water as summer has arrived in Delhi. As Chief Minister, he used to review the work of ministers. Now he is in the custody of the Central Government,” she added.

Arvind Kejriwal’s wife Sunita Kejriwal on Saturday evening met him at the ED office where he is lodged under custody. Sunita Kejriwal met her husband at the ED office at A P J Abdul Kalam Road and was seen holding papers as she entered the ED office with some staff.

Sunita Kejriwal later read out a “message by the Delhi Chief Minister” via a video message on Saturday (March 23), and said that he is a man “made of steel” and he will not break down. She said that blessings of the people of Delhi are with Kejriwal and he has fulfilled his promises made to them.

“There are several forces within and outside India that are weakening the country. We have to be alert, identify these forces and defeat them…Women in Delhi must be thinking that Kejriwal is behind bars. Who knows if they would get Rs 1000. I appeal to them to trust their brother, their son. There is no jail that can keep him behind bars for long. I will come out soon and keep my promise…” she said.

According to Kejriwal’s lawyer, the special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) Court had allowed Sunita Kejriwal and Bibhav Kumar (Kejriwal’s assistant) to meet him every day for half an hour between 6-7 pm, apart from his lawyers.

Meanwhile, the AAP is planning a candlelight march and effigy burning across Delhi on Sunday in protest against the BJP in connection with Kejriwal’s arrest.

KCR Labels BJP Govt’s Actions As Threat To Democracy

BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has decried the recent arrests of opposition leaders, including Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal, as a dark spot on India’s democratic history. He demanded the immediate release of the Delhi Chief Minister.

He termed the arrest of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader another dark day in the country’s democratic history. KCR, as Rao is popularly known, alleged that the ruling BJP is acting with the sole intention of wiping out the opposition and this is evident from the recent arrest of JMM chief Hemant Soren and BRS MLC K. Kavitha.

Rao criticised the BJP’s alleged attempts to stifle the strong opposition voices. He accused the BJP government of misusing central investigation agencies like ED, CBI and I-T to conduct politically motivated attacks on the opposition parties.

The BRS chief denounced the BJP government’s actions, as they undermine the very democratic foundation of the nation. He  called for the immediate withdrawal of any unlawful charges and the prompt release of those detained.

Earlier in the day, the BRS chief is believed to have told his party workers that the ED arrested Kavitha by foisting false cases against her as he opposed the BJP and its policies. He was addressing the party leaders from Medak Lok Sabha segment at his Erravalli farmhouse in Siddipet district on Friday, where he finalised former IAS officer and MLC P Venkatram Reddy’s candidature for the constituency for the upcoming parliament elections.

“KCR told the party leaders that his daughter was arrested in a false case because he was against the BJP. He said if he had allied with the BJP, then the ED wouldn’t have arrested his daughter,” a party source said.

YSRCP In Offensive With Drugs Seizure At Visakha Port

The seizure of huge volume of drugs from a container at Visakhapatnam Port, ahead of crucial elections, leading to major political uproar in Andhra Pradesh. The opposition parties, who are critical of YS Jaganmohan Reddy regime that brought disrepute to the state during it’s five year- regime, as the notorious ganja and drugs destination in the country, are now taking it as an opportunity to discredit the government for making the state as `drugs capital of India’.

BJP state vice president and former legislature party leader P Vishnu Kumar Raju alleged that the origins of drugs and ganja seized anywhere in the country are traced in Andhra Pradesh, He said that the presence of ganja in the state has increased manifold and even Class X students are able to access it with ease.

Even as the police claim that the department is considering stringent measures in curbing drugs in the state, in reality, he accused that the situation is quite a contrast as Andhra Pradesh has been witnessing free flow of ganja and drugs for the past five years.

The latest controversy erupted after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) seized a staggering 25,000 kilograms of drugs from a container at the Visakhapatnam Port. Lamenting the high-profile drug seizure, TDP’s spokesperson, Jyothsna Tirunagari, alleged that the ruling party has close ties with Sandhya Aqua Exports, the Visakhapatnam-based private company linked to the seized drugs.

She accused the YSRCP government of exacerbating the drug menace in the state through administrative mismanagement. Additionally, she took a dig at YSRCP MP V. Vijaysai Reddy alleging his purported “Brazilian connection.”

According to the DPR report, TDP MP Kanakamedala Ravindra Kumar said, “Andhra Pradesh leads in drugs… The state government is involved in all this, that’s why we filed a complaint… In the absence of direct evidence, inference can be taken from circumstantial evidence. Circumstances put together, directly lead to the YSRCP government.”

“The YSRCP government is directly or indirectly involved in the drug mafia… Under the name of dried yeast, it contains six kinds of drugs, and now they have been sent to forensics. The drugs are being utilised in liquor manufactured by the government and private companies under them,” he said.

Kanakamedala Ravindra Kumar, a member of the Rajya Sabha of Telugu Desam, has expressed his suspicions that these drugs are being used in the preparation of inferior liquor being made in the state. Along with those samples, alcohol samples from AP should also be sent for lab tests and a thorough investigation should be conducted, he demanded.

He recalled the mention in the CBI report on the attitude of the Andhra Pradesh police authorities in the case of 25 thousand kg of suspected drugs seizure. He wondered that how Rs 50,000 crore worth drugs reached to the state from Brazil without the role of the state government,

He alleged that to divert the attention of the central probe agencies on their deep involvement in the drugs deals some ruling party leaders are spreading rumors against TDP leaders possible involvement. He asked how TDP leaders were being accused of having a role in the Visakha drug case, even before the investigation was over. Ravindra Kumar urged the Central Election Commission to focus on the menace of high-profile drugs seizure at Visakhapatnam.
