It’s Official, Charan And Sukumar Set To Add New Colors To Indian Cinema

Rural drama ‘Rangasthalam’ gave a new lease of life to Mega Powerstar Ram Charan as an actor. He made a strong statement with his incredible performance in the role of ‘Chitti Babu’, a hearing-impaired villager who avenges his brother’s death. Charan silenced all his naysayers who wrote him off because of the typecast roles he played before Rangasthalam. Sukumar bagged plaudits for presenting Charan in a never-before-seen intense avatar and extracting the hitherto unknown actor in him.

Now, the heady combination of Charan and Sukumar is set to reunite again as being speculated in the media for the past few days. On the eve of Holi festival, an official announcement about this crazy project was made just a while ago. Along with this interesting poster, the makers released a picture of Charan and Sukumar embracing each other while celebrating Holi. The poster also signifies that the duo is set to add new colours to Indian cinema.

So, Sukumar’s film might start rolling towards the end of the year. In all probability, RC17 will release in the last quarter of 2025 or early 2026.

Raghuramkrishnam Raju To Contest From Vizianagaram!

Though Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy said to be succeeded in preventing BJP from giving Narsapur seat to the sitting MP K Raghuramakrishnam Raju, who is known as bitter critic of his administration, Raju declared that he will contest in the polls at any cost.

As the TDP allocated Narsapur seat to BJP, Raju felt to contest as BJP candidate from here. However, BJP picked up its state secretary Srinivas Varma as its candidate, keeping away Raghuramakrishnam Raju from the contest.

However, both TDP and Raju are said to be exploring the possibilities of fielding him from some other constituency. In this regard, Vizianagaram constituency is felt to be a suitable one for him, with a sizable number of Kshetriya voters here.

Originally, TDP allocated Vizianagaram to BJP, but the party insisted for Rajampet in Rayalaseema for former chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and left this seat. Now TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu is yet to find a candidate to contest from here.

Sitting MP Bellana Chandrasekhar of YSRCP, is contesting again from Vizianagaram. Former Union Minister Ashok Gajapathiraju had previously won as an MP from Vizianagaram. First, the name of former AP TDP president Kala Venkata Rao from Vizianagaram is under consideration. His own constituency, Etcherla Assembly, has been allotted to the BJP.

With this, Chandrababu has already suggested that Kala Venkat Rao contest for Parliament. But Kala Venkat Rao is not showing interest to contest in the Lok Sabha polls.  Former union minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju is also said to be not keen on contesting in these polls, after his  daughter has been announced as TDP candidate for the Vizianagaram assembly seat.

In the prevailing scenario, TDP circles felt that Raghuramakrishnam Raju will be a suitable candidate for the party to contest from here. He alleged that CM Jagan prevented him from getting a chance to contest again from Narsapur seat.

However, Raju said that even if he does not get a seat on behalf of BJP, he will definitely be in the public field in the general elections. He said that he will stay in politics and teach Jagan a proper lesson.

The BJP has fielded Rekha Patra, who party leaders said is one of the Sadeshkhali victims, from West Bengal’s Basirhat constituency in a bid to corner the state’s ruling Trinamool Congress.

The saffron party has fielded Nityanand Rai from Ujiarpur, Giriraj Singh from Begusarai, Ravi Shankar Prasad from Patna Sahib, Kangana Ranaut from Mandi, Naveen Jindal from Kurukshetra, Sita Soren from Dumka, Jagadish Shettar from Belgaum, K Sudhakaran from Chikkaballapur, Dharmendra Pradhan from Sambalpur, Pratap Sarangi from Balasore, Sambit Patra from Puri, Aparijita Sarangi from Bhubaneswar and Arun Govil from Meerut, among other candidates.

Kangana Ranaut, a vocal supporter of the BJP, will contest from Mandi in her home state of Himachal Pradesh, while veteran actor Arun Govil, famed for his role of Lord Ram in the popular TV serial “Ramayan”, has been preferred to seasoned parliamentarian Rajendra Agrawal in Meerut by the ruling party.

Sita Soren, the sister-in-law of former Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren, is the BJP’s candidate from Dumka. She had quit the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha a few days ago. Among other candidates, the party has announced Rajesh Chudasama from Junagadh, Hari Patel from Mehsana, Shabhna Ben Bariya from Sabarkantha, Dr Hemang Jishi from Vadodara, Bharat bhai Sutaria from Amreli, Chandubhai Shiohora from Surendranaga.

Former Calcutta High Court judge Abhijit Gangopadhyay, who quit the bench recently and joined the BJP, has been fielded from West Bengal’s Tamluk seat.

Other prominent candidates include Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan from Odisha’s Sambalpur, former IAS officer Aparajita Sarangi from Bhubaneswar, party spokesman Sambit Patra from Puri, Andhra Pradesh unit chief D Purandeswari from Rajahmundry, and former Andhra Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, who quit the Congress, from Rajampet.

While it has denied the ticket from Pilibhit to Varun Gandhi, a three-term Lok Sabha MP who has often aired views deemed critical of his party’s governments at the Centre and in the state, it has renominated his mother Maneka Gandhi from Sultanpur.

Jitin Prasada, a minister in the state government, is the party’s choice from Pilibhit, while Atul Garg replaces two-term MP V K Singh in Ghaziabad. Hours before the party released the list, Singh said in a post on X that he is opting out of the polls.

Three leaders who joined the BJP on Sunday figured in the list — Naveen Jindal from Kurukshetra, Haryana government minister Ranjit Chautala from Hisar (both in Haryana), and Varaprasad Rao from Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh.

In Bihar, the party has fielded Union Ministers RK Singh from Arrah, Nityanand Rai from Ujiarpur, and Giriraj Singh from Begusarai. Former Union Ministers Ravi Shankar Prasad from Patna Sahib, Rajiv Pratap Rudy from Saran, Radha Mohan Singh from Purvi Champaran, and Ram Kripal Yadav from Pataliputra also figure in the list.

In Kerala, state chief K Surendran has been fielded from Wayanad, where

Kerala BJP president K Surendra will contest from Wayanad, the seat from where incumbent MP and former Congress president Rahul Gandhi is again in the fray.

Purandeswari Threatened Not To Contest From Rajahmundry!

Internal contradictions are playing havoc within the Andhra Pradesh unit of BJP, even after announcement of its candidates for all six Lok Sabha constituencies, it is contesting. Former state chief Somu Veerraju, who is known for his proximity with YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy insisted on contesting from Rajahmundry Lok Sabha seat till last minute.

However, as the party leadership decided state party chief and former union minister D Purandeswari should contest from here, he seems to be restless. Now he is insisting on contesting from the Anaparthy assembly constituency, for which TDP has already announced its candidate.

But, both TDP and Jana Sena cadre are expressing apprehension that contesting a candidate like Somu Veerraju, whose ground-level appeal is very poor, would be advantageous to the ruling YSRCP. Even Purandeswari threatened that if Veerraju contests from Anaparthy, she will not contest from Rajahmundry Lok Sabha, as that assembly segment comes under her constituency.

She made it clear that if Veerraju is a candidate for one of the assembly segments in the Lok Sabha constituency, it would be difficult for any one to win in the Lok Sabha seat. It may be recalled that Narsapur MP Raghurama Krishnam Raju openly accused that it was Veerraju, who had lobbied against him with the directions from YS Jagan and denied him Narsapur seat this time, as BJP here fielding its own candidate.

Though TDP offered Vizianagaram Lok Sabha seat for BJP to facilitate its state vice president and former MLC PVN Madhav to contest, the party said to be insisting for Rajampet seat so that former chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy would contest from there. However, TDP circles expressed apprehension that in view of considerable number of Muslim voters in the constituency, it would be suicidal if a BJP candidate contested from there.

Even Kiran Kumar Reddy’s own brother, Santosh Kumar Reddy, who is contesting as TDP candidate from their home assembly constituency, advised his brother against contesting from here. He fears that it would affect as many as four assembly segments in the Lok Sabha constituency. But, BJP insiders stating that Kiran Kumar Reddy insisted on contesting from here.

Purandeswari, daughter of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder and former Chief Minister N. T. Rama Rao, will contest from Rajahmundry, and Kiran Kumar Reddy, the last Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh, who joined the BJP last year, has been named as the candidate from Rajampet.

Moreover, former Rajya Sabha member of TDP, C M. Ramesh, who had quit TDP to join the BJP in 2019, will contest from Anakapalle. BJP’s state Vice President and former MP Kothapalli Geetha will contest from Araku (ST) seat. She quit the YSR Congress Party to join the BJP in 2019, after the party had denied her ticket.

Former MP Velagapalli Varaprasad Rao will contest from Tirupati (SC). His candidature was announced a few hours after he joined the BJP in Delhi, on Sunday. Presently he is Guduru MLA and he was denied re-nomination by the YSRCP.

The BJP is contesting the Andhra Pradesh Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in alliance with the TDP and Jana Sena Party. Under the seat-sharing agreement, it has been allotted six Lok Sabha and 10 Assembly seats.

Incidentally, sitting Narsapur MP Raghurama Krishnam Raju, who had rebelled against chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy and fought against his misgovernance, is now denied opportunity to contest again, as BJP chosen to nominate a new person from his Narsapur constituency. Political circles felt that Jagan Mohan Reddy succeeded in influencing BJP to prevent him from contesting again.
