Jagan to resign as MLA and contest as MP ?

From the past couple of days, rumours have been making rounds in political circles that YSRCP president and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is going to make a shocking announcement on the eve of his father YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s birth anniversary this Monday ( July 8th).

As per these reports, Jagan Mohan Reddy is going to resign as Pulivendula MLA and contest as Member of Parliament from Kadapa Loksabha constituency. This is because Jagan is not happy with the recent electoral performance of YSRCP in the assembly elections of Andhra Pradesh. It is a known fact that his party was relegated to just 11 seats out of 175 and bagged a massive embarrassment for failing to secure even the Opposition status due to historic defeat.

Reportedly, Jagan came to an opinion that he can face Chandrababu Naidu and also keep the CBI and ED cases at bay only if he consolidates his ties with the centre. Moreover, he also wants to make his wife Bharathi to lead the party in the state if he faces an arrest in the near future as the CBI court ordered day to day hearing in his cases. So, he wants to pitch in Bharati or his mother YS Vijayamma from Pulivendula MLA seat.

Meanwhile, Avinash Reddy is likely to resign as Kadapa MP and vacate the seat for Jagan to contest in the by-election. Jagan is very confident that he will win as MP with a thumping majority and send a strong signal to his opponents and also Delhi bosses. As Narendra Modi’s NDA government secured a slender majority, Jagan wants to play a pivotal role in the national political scene. Hence, he has reportedly came to this shocking decision.

Surprisingly, the YSRCP sources didn’t condemn this news as false so far. So, there is a talk in media circles that the news is from a credible source close to Jagan Mohan Reddy. It would be interesting to see if he makes any such announcements today as he will attend the birth anniversary ceremony of his father YS Rajasekhar Reddy in Idupulapaya today morning.

Chandrababu Naidu Advocates Unity Between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed sentiments of fraternity between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, likening their division to that of brothers and sisters during a speech at NTR Bhavan on Sunday. Emphasizing unity despite bifurcation, he underscored the Telugu Desam Party’s (TDP) commitment to the mutual development of both states. Chandrababu Naidu acknowledged that separations bring initial challenges but urged for swift resolution of any issues arising from it.

Highlighting his proactive approach, Chandrababu Naidu mentioned initiating dialogue by writing a letter to Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy upon assuming office. This step, he noted, marks a positive beginning towards fostering cooperation between the two states. Chandrababu Naidu reiterated that despite any divisions, the people of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana share a common heritage and language, stressing the importance of joint progress while safeguarding Telugu interests. He pointed out the decrease in Andhra Pradesh’s representation in the Lok Sabha post-bifurcation and affirmed his commitment to advocating for the Telugu nation’s welfare above regional differences.

Chandrababu Naidu emphasized the necessity of constructive discussions to resolve issues, cautioning that unresolved conflicts could lead to further complications. He called for harmonious dialogue and mutual understanding to propel both states towards development, acknowledging the ideological differences between the Congress-led Telangana government and the NDA-led Andhra Pradesh government.

Former AP Intelligence Chief Attempts to Meet CM Chandrababu

In a surprising turn of events, former Andhra Pradesh intelligence chief PSR Anjaneyulu, who has been labeled as a pro-YSRCP government official, attempted to meet Chief Minister Chandrababu in Hyderabad. Anjaneyulu, accused of violating rules and irregularities in election duties, had been previously removed from his position by the Election Commission for his alleged unofficial support for the YSRCP.

Today, Anjaneyulu made unsuccessful attempts to secure an appointment with CM Chandrababu. Despite the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) officials stating that no appointment had been scheduled, Anjaneyulu visited Chandrababu’s residence in Jubilee Hills twice. On both occasions, Chandrababu’s security personnel turned him away at the gate.

Former YSRCP MLA squarely blames Jagan for his defeat

Finally, someone from YSR Congress party has got the audacity and guts to speak up facts about the dismal electoral performance in the recent assembly elections of Andhra Pradesh. Former MLA of YSRCP from Chodavaram constituency Karnam Dharmasri made shocking comments on Jagan Mohan Reddy and attributed his defeat in the elections to the former Chief Minister’s inefficiency.

Karnam Dharmasri, who faced a humiliating defeat just like many other YSRCP contestants in May elections, minced no words in pointing his finger at his party chief Jagan Mohan Reddy. He squarely blamed Jagan and his ministers for failing to rectify their mistakes in the last five years and said that party lost only because of their grave negligence.

Admitting his defeat and outright public rejection in a press meet, Dharmasri was visibly upset with the way Jagan Mohan Reddy ignored his repeated requests to allot funds for laying roads in his constituency. He said that potholes on BN road highway were not filled by his government which is why he faced a humiliating defeat in the elections. He stated that he spent more than 2 crores own money for repairing roads in his constituency and expressed uncertainty to get reimbursement from the current government.

Dharmasri lost to TDP’s KSNS Raju with a margin of 40,000 votes. He won in 2019 from the same constituency and retained his ticket in 2024 again. But, he ended up losing as the party was decimated all over the state.

While many of the lost candidates haven’t got the courage to speak against Jagan Mohan Reddy, Dharmasri’s comments came as a big surprise to the party cadre.
