Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy declared plans to initiate the construction of a metro rail system in the old city, committing to develop the area and seek votes in Chandrayangutta during the next assembly elections. Speaking in the Assembly, Revanth Reddy announced, “Akbaruddin Owaisi will be fielded from Kodangal next time and will win.” He stated that will give B-form to Owaisi from Kodangal on Congress party, and Revanth Reddy plans to file his nomination and secure a victory, ultimately making Owaisi the deputy chief minister.
Revanth Reddy emphasized that steps are already underway to construct the old city metro, a project neglected by the previous BRS government. He mentioned ongoing discussions with L&T for the metro construction and criticized the previous administration for proposing metro routes aimed at boosting real estate prices rather than addressing public needs. “There are already good roads from the financial district to the airport,” he noted, alleging that the previous government issued unnecessary tenders for metro routes.
Revanth Reddy assured that his government would construct a metro line from LB Nagar to the airport, passing through Chandrayangutta to benefit the old city residents. He expressed frustration over the lack of central government funding for the second phase of the metro and vowed to complete the project. “Land acquisition for the second phase has already begun,” he added, accusing the previous government of deceiving the old city residents.
Highlighting the Congress party’s role in bringing the metro rail to Hyderabad, Revanth Reddy said, “When we arrived, we redesigned the old city metro project. The dream of the old city metro was unfulfilled due to the BRS fraud.” He stated that they are not promising to develop Hyderabad into a city comparable to Istanbul and London but assured to develop the city.
Revanth Reddy also addressed the need for equitable treatment of states, urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to treat all states equally. “I have repeatedly requested Modi to treat states like a big brother. However, only Bihar and Gujarat have received more funds,” he alleged.
