 Lakshmi Parvathi’s Honorary Professor Status Revoked By Andhra University

Vijayawada: Naandamuri Lakshmi Parvathi, who served as the chairperson of the Telugu Academy during YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s tenure, has faced significant changes under the Chandrababu Naidu government. Appointed as chairperson of the Telugu Academy by the Jagan administration, she was also honored with the title of ‘Honorary Professor’ by Andhra University.

Following the transfer of power in the state, actions are being taken against leaders and officials who played key roles in YS Jagan’s regime. In line with this, Andhra University has issued a crucial statement regarding Lakshmi Parvathi. The university’s registrar, N Kishore Babu, announced on Thursday that her ‘Honorary Professor’ status has been revoked. He clarified that Lakshmi Parvathi had not received any salary from the university thus far.

When Lakshmi Parvathi assumed the chairmanship of the Telugu Academy, she was tasked with providing guidance to university researchers. However, she has now been relieved of these duties. The university’s registrar further revealed that the research scholars who were under her guidance have been reassigned to another professor within the Telugu department.

Rahul Gandhi Claims ED Raid Being Planned Against Him

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi claimed that he will soon become the target of an Enforcement Directorate raid. He cited his recent speech using the ‘chakravyuh’ military formation metaphor to hit out at the ruling government as the trigger for this planned raid.

Taking to social media X, the 54-year-old leader alleged that he received information from sources within the ED itself, indicating that a raid against him was being planned by the central probe agency. Despite the looming possibility of such an action, Gandhi conveyed a defiant stance, declaring that he would welcome the ED officials with “open arms.”

“Apparently, 2 in 1 didn’t like my Chakravyuh speech. ED ‘insiders’ tell me a raid is being planned. Waiting with open arms @dir_ed…..Chai and biscuits on me (sic),” the Congress leader wrote in his post. 

During a discussion in the Lok Sabha on the Union budget, Rahul Gandhi cited the ‘Chkravyuh’ military formation in Mahabharata to say that a similar formation is being made by six people, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, and industrialists Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani to harm people.

‘Chakravyuh’ refers to a multi-layered military formation aimed at trapping a warrior by opponents placed strategically in an alignment resembling a lotus-shaped labyrinth.

“In the 21st century, another ‘chakravyuh’ has been formed. It is in the form of a lotus and the prime minister wears the symbol on his chest. What was done with Abhinmanyu is being done with India, with its youth, women, farmers and small and medium businesses,” the Congress leader had said.

The ‘chakravyuh’ is also called a ‘padmavyuha’ for its resemblance to a lotus (BJP’s election symbol) formation, Gandhi had observed. Speaking further, the LoP said that the budget has stabbed the middle class, which enthusiastically banged thalis when asked to do so by Prime Minister Modi.

The LoP said that the ‘Chakravyuh’ that the central government has built is harming crores of people. Subsequently, BJP Lok Sabha MP Anurag Thakur took a jibe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s statements on Mahabharata and Chakravyuh on Wednesday and said that some people are ‘accidental Hindus’ and their knowledge of Mahabharata is accidental too.

APMDC Ex MD Venkata Reddy Suspended, ACB probe ordered

The AP government has ordered an ACB investigation against Venkata Reddy, the former director of the mining department, who has become a hotbed of irregularities. He was suspended in the case of illegal mining and sand. Chief Secretary Nirabkumar Prasad issued a memo on Thursday ordering the ACB DG to investigate his corruption and irregularities during the YSRCP regime.

The report given by the Mines Department on sand irregularities has been sent to the DG. It is reported that more cases will be filed against Venkata Reddy on the allegations that YSRCP leaders are behind the theft of silica sand and quartz in the undivided Nellore district.

It seems that different cases may be filed after the preparation of a comprehensive report on the irregularities in coal tenders in APMDC, Muggurai in Mangampet and beach sand tenders in Nellore.

Venkata Reddy, a senior civilian staff officer of the Indian Coast Guards, came on deputation to AP in December 2019. First joined the education department. After that he took charge as Director of Mines Department and for some years as MD of APMDC. There were serious allegations of his irregularities in that department.

 As a result, the NDA government removed Venkata Reddy from those two posts on June 7. Ordered to report in GAD and no posting was given anywhere. Venkata Reddy’s deputation expired on July 31.

On the other hand, the AP government filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court on Wednesday regarding violations in sand mining in the state. The affidavit has attached the report given by the Department of Mines to the government stating that irregularities and violations in many reaches are true.

At the same time, CS Nirabkumar Prasad wrote a letter to the Director General of the Coast Guard Headquarters in Delhi, Venkata Reddy’s parent department. It disclosed that he was suspended as part of disciplinary action. In Venkata Reddy’s suspension orders, the government ordered him not to leave the headquarters, but his whereabouts are not known.

Venkata Reddy gave false information to the Supreme Court, High Court and National Green Tribunal. In March 2023, despite the NGT order canceling all permissions for sand reaches in AP, miners continued to dig as usual. Venkata Reddy said in his affidavit given to NGT and Supreme Court that there is no sand mining going on anywhere.

At the same time, the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests has placed evidence before the NGT and the Supreme Court that illegal sand mining is true and confirmed that Venkata Reddy had given false information to the courts.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has assured that he will eradicate drought from Rayalaseema region and develop it as a land of fortune with gems. Offering Jala Harathi at SriSailam, he expressed happiness that due to the grace of Mallanna, for the first time in the last 20 years Srisailam reservoir is full of water in July itself.

He assured that giving priority we will utilize every drop of water and provide irrigation to every acre in Rayalaseema. Participating in distribution of pensions in Nandyal and Sri Sathya Sai districts on Thursday, he  announced that all measures will be taken to build a reservoir along with the iconic highway bridge at Siddeswaram.

Chandrababu lashed out at the YSP government which has weakened the state with inefficient governance in the last five years. He expressed his anger that people’s properties were stolen.

Accusing that YS Jaganmohan Reddy has completely ignored irrigation, he said while during previous TDP regime Rs 68,000 crore was spent on irrigation, Jagan’s regime spent not even Rs 400 crore.

He said that Kia Motors have been brought in the drought district and assured greenery in Anantapur district. Chandrababu said that measures will be taken for remunerate prices for crops and drip irrigation will be made available in the district. He asserted that if Polavaram is completed and the rivers are connected, there will be no drought in Rayalaseema.

He assured that two reservoirs will be constructed in Anantapur area and the problem of drinking and irrigation water will be solved through the reservoirs. He said that APIIC has 1600 acres of land in Anantapur and Madakasira and will take responsibility for setting up an industrial cluster.

The CM said that industries will be brought to this area and employment will be generated and skill training will be provided to the youth for employment. He said that 97 percent of pensions were distributed on a single day at home without any trouble.

Chandrababu lamented that the YCP regime has weakened all systems with corruption, destruction and inefficient governance. Alleging that state on survey stones with Jagan’s photos. Though houses were not built for the poor, in Rushikonda a palace was built spending Rs 500 crore.

Rahul Gandhi Termed Wayanad Landslides A National Disaster

The Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi  said that it was painful to see people who have lost family members and homes in the massive landslides that hit Wayanad and termed it a national disaster.

Congress MP Gandhi said, “Today, I feel how I felt when my father died. Here people have not just lost a father but an entire family. We all owe these people respect and affection. The whole nation’s attention is towards Wayanad.”

Gandhi, a former MP from Wayanad, said it was a terrible tragedy for Wayanad, Kerala, and the nation. “To me, this is a national disaster for sure, but let’s see what the government says,” he said in response to reporters’ queries.

Both Gandhi and his sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, visited the landslide-hit Chooralmala area of Wayanad on Thursday.  Vadra spoke along similar lines, saying the pain people in the area were experiencing was unimaginable.

“We are here to help them and to give as much support and comfort as we can.” she said. Both of them were speaking to media after visiting the landslide-affected area of Chooralmala, a hospital and community health centre in Meppadi, and two relief camps.

After visiting the landslide-hit spot, Gandhi in a Facebook post said witnessing the scenes of disaster and tragedy deeply pained his heart. “In these difficult times, Priyanka and I stand with the people of Wayanad. We are closely monitoring the relief, rescue, and rehabilitation efforts, ensuring that all necessary assistance is provided. The UDF is committed to extending all possible support.

“The repeated incidents of landslides and natural calamities are extremely concerning. A comprehensive action plan is urgently needed,” he said in his post. After reaching Chooralmala, Gandhi and his sister crossed the temporary wooden walkway built there, witnessed the construction of the Bailey Bridge, and walked around the area, braving the rain and muddy terrain.

2019లో తెలుగుదేశం పార్టీ తరఫున ఎమ్మెల్యేగా గెలిచి, ఆ తర్వాత సొంత ప్రయోజనాలకోసం వైఎస్సార్ కాంగ్రెస్ లోకి ఫిరాయించడం మాత్రమే కాకుండా.. తెలుగుదేశం పట్ల చాలా దుర్మార్గంగా అసహ్యంగా వ్యవహరించిన మాజీ ఎమ్మెల్యే వల్లభనేని వంశీ ప్రస్తుతం విదేశాలకు పారిపోయారా? చంద్రబాబునాయుడు సారథ్యంలో కూటమి ప్రభుత్వం ఏర్పడిన నేపథ్యంలో తన అరాచకాల మీద దృష్టి సారిస్తారని, తాను తప్పించుకునే అవకాశాలు తక్కువని ముందే తెలుసుకున్న వంశీ ముందుగానే జారుకోవడానికి పోలీసు శాఖలో ఆయనకు అనుకూలురైన మనుషులే సమాచారం అందించారా? ఆయనకోసం పోలీసులు వేట ప్రారంభించిన నేపథ్యంలో ఇప్పుడు రకరకాల అనుమానాలు ముప్పిరిగొంటున్నాయి.

మంగళగిరిలోని తెలుగుదేశం కార్యాలయం మీద జరిగిన దాడి కేసులో అప్పట్లో ఎమ్మెల్యేగా ఉండి.. తన అనుచర గూండాలను దాడికి ఉసిగొల్పిన ఎమ్మెల్యే వల్లభనేని వంశీమోహన్ ను అరెస్టు చేయడానికి పోలీసులు రంగం సిద్ధం చేశారు. ఈ కేసులో వంశీ పేరును 71వ నిందితుడిగా చేర్చారు. దాడిలో వంశీ నేరుగా పాల్గొనలేదు. కానీ, కొన్ని అరెస్టులు జరిగినతర్వాత వంశీ ప్రేరణతోనే దాడి జరిగినట్లుగా పోలీసులు ఒక నిర్ధరణకు వచ్చారు. ఆ మేరకు ఆయన కోసం ఇప్పుడు గాలింపు మొదలైంది.

వంశీ కుటుంబం హైదరాబాదులో నివాసం ఉండడంతో.. ఆయనను అరెస్టు చేసి తీసుకురావడానికి ఇప్పటికే మూడు పోలీసు బృందాలు హైదరాబాదుకు చేరుకున్నాయి. అయితే ఆయన ఆచూకీ తెలియలేదు. కొన్ని వారాల కిందటే వల్లభనేని వంశీ అమెరికా వెళ్లిపోయి ఉంటారనే అనుమానం కూడా పలువురిలో కలుగుతోంది.
చంద్రబాబునాయుడు కుటుంబసభ్యుల గురించి అసహ్యంగా మాట్లాడడం ద్వారా.. వంశీ గత ప్రభుత్వ కాలంలో ఎంతో పాపులర్ అయ్యారు. ఆయన మాటల తీరుకు యావత్ రాష్ట్రంలోని ప్రజలు వంశీని అసహ్యించుకున్నారు. ఆయనను మాత్రమే కాదు. కనీసం ఆయన మాటలను ఖండించకుండా, ఆయనను మరింతగా ప్రోత్సహించిన జగన్ ను కూడా ఆ విషయంలో ప్రజలు అసహ్యించుకున్నారు. అయినా సరే చంద్రబాబు ప్రభుత్వం ఆ వ్యవహారం జోలికి వెళ్లలేదు.

కానీ మంగళగిరి తెలుగుదేశం కార్యాలయం మీద దాడి కేసులో మాత్రం పోలీసులు చర్యలు మొదలు పెట్టారు. ఇప్పటికే పలువురి అరెస్టులు కూడా జరిగాయి. అసలు సూత్రధారుల్ని పోలీసులు పట్టించుకోకుండా ఎవరెవరినో అరెస్టు చేస్తున్నారంటూ పార్టీనుంచి తీవ్రమైన విమర్శలు వచ్చాయి. వంశీ అరెస్టుకోసం తీవ్రంగా డిమాండ్లు రావడంతో పోలీసులు ఇప్పుడు రంగంలోకి దిగారు. హైదరాబాదులో గాలింపులు జరుగుతున్న నేపథ్యంలో, వంశీ ఇప్పటికే దేశం విడిచి పరారైపోయి ఉంటే గనుక.. ఆయన కోసం లుక్ అవుట్ నోటీసులు జారీచేసే అవకాశం ఉన్నదని తెలుస్తోంది.

చంద్రబాబు నాయుడు మడకశిర నియోజకవర్గ పర్యటన సందర్భంగా ఆ ప్రాంత సిపిఎం నేతలను పోలీసులు అరెస్టు చేశారు. ఇలాంటి అరెస్టులు వారికి నిత్యకృత్యం అయిపోయాయి. ముఖ్యమంత్రి వస్తున్నప్పుడు విపక్ష పార్టీలకు చెందిన నాయకులను అరెస్టు చేయడం గృహనిర్బంధాలు చేయడం అనేది వైఎస్ జగన్మోహన్ రెడ్డి పరిపాలన కాలంలో ఒక సాంప్రదాయంగా మారిపోయింది అనడంలో సందేహం లేదు. ఐదేళ్లుగా అలవాటు పడిన పోలీసులు చంద్రబాబు నాయుడు వస్తున్నప్పుడు కూడా అదే పని చేశారు. స్థానికంగా సిపిఎం నేతలను అరెస్టు చేయడం పట్ల నిరసనలు వ్యక్తం అయ్యాయి.

ఈ ఘటనకు సంబంధించి మంత్రి నారా లోకేష్ స్పందించారు. నేతలను అరెస్టు చేసినందుకు మన్నించాలని కోరారు. ఈ మేరకు ఆయన ఎక్స్ ఖాతాలో ఒక ట్వీట్ చేశారు. ‘గృహనిర్బంధాలు, ముందస్తు అరెస్టులకు కూటమి ప్రభుత్వం పూర్తిగా వ్యతిరేకం. గత ఐదేళ్లలో పరదాల ప్రభుత్వం పోయినా ఇంకా కొంతమంది పోలీసులు తీరు మారలేదు. ఇటువంటి అప్రజాస్వామిక అరెస్టులు పునరావృతం కానివ్వం ప్రభుత్వాన్ని ప్రజాపక్షమై ప్రశ్నించే హక్కు ప్రజాస్వామ్య బద్ధంగా నిరసన తెలిపే హక్కులను కాపాడుతాం. ఇకపై ప్రతిపక్షాలు ప్రజాసంఘాల ముందస్తు అరెస్టులు గృహనిర్బంధాలు, పురావృతం కాకుండా చర్యలు తీసుకోవాలని పోలీసు శాఖ ముఖ్య అధికారులను కోరుతున్నాం’ అని లోకేష్ పేర్కొన్నారు. విపక్షాలు తమ గళం వినిపించడానికి ప్రభుత్వం పాలకపక్షం స్వేచ్ఛ ఇవ్వడం అనేది ఇవాల్టి రోజుల్లో ఒక అతి గొప్ప విషయంగా మారిపోయింది. అణచివేత ఒక్కటే పరిపాలన మార్గంగా బతికేస్తున్న పార్టీలు.. ఇంత సామరస్య ధోరణితో వ్యవహరిస్తున్న కూటమి ప్రభుత్వాన్ని చూసి ఆదర్శంగా తీసుకోవాలని పలువురు భావిస్తున్నారు.

PV Sindhu Eliminated in Pre-Quarterfinals at Paris Olympics

Former AAG Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy Denied Police Protection by Andhra Pradesh High Court

Former Additional Advocate General (AAG) Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy has been denied police protection by the Andhra Pradesh High Court. The court ruled that his position does not automatically qualify him for such protection.

Ponnavolu had petitioned the High Court seeking additional security. The court, however, clarified that holding constitutional or statutory positions alone does not entitle an individual to police protection. 

The High Court also noted that the Security Review Committee had determined there was no imminent threat to life. Objections to the committee’s report can be formally challenged. Additionally, if a threat to life is confirmed and the government provides security, Ponnavolu will be responsible for the associated costs.

Pawan Kalyan Responds to SC Categorization Verdict

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has responded to the Supreme Court’s recent verdict on the categorization of Scheduled Castes (SC). Pawan Kalyan hailed the ruling as a victory resulting from persistent efforts by a dedicated group and called for maintaining unity within the SC community without disruption.

In his public statement, Pawan Kalyan emphasized that the Supreme Court’s decision permits state governments to undertake sub-categorization of SC and ST reservations. He commended Manda Krishna Madiga for his enduring struggle despite numerous challenges and congratulated him on the outcome.

Pawan Kalyan also recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had shown a favorable stance towards reservations for the Madiga community during his second term. He noted that the central government assured the Supreme Court in February this year that categorization would promote social justice and equal opportunities for all. He further mentioned that had the Modi government made a decision in favor of categorization, it would have been during Chandrababu Naidu’s tenure as Chief Minister of the united Andhra Pradesh.

Welcoming the Supreme Court’s verdict on this long-standing issue, Pawan Kalyan stressed the responsibility of SC intellectuals and educated individuals to ensure the unity among SCs is preserved. He acknowledged the concerns of those who have been advocating for categorization for decades and highlighted the presence of educated individuals in the Mala social group who support the advancement of the Madiga community.
