Haryana Becomes First State In India To Buy All Crops From Farmers At MSP

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday announced the procurement of all crops in the state at the minimum support price, thus becoming the first in the country to procure all crops at MSP. The Chief Minister also announced the waiving of Rs 133 crore in outstanding canal water irrigation charges.

The major declarations come just ahead of the Assembly elections as the party kickstarted its campaign in the state. After the ruling party suffered a setback in the Lok Sabha elections, Saini has announced several sops to reach out to various sections ahead of assembly polls due later this year.

Addressing the party’s ‘Vijay Shankhnad’ rally, Saini said the BJP government in the state is currently procuring 14 crops at MSP. “I am happy to state that in the last 10 years, the state government purchased 14 crops at MSP. Today, nine more crops are pending. All crops in Haryana will now be bought at MSP by our government. I announce this today,” said Saini.

Moreover, Saini also announced a significant relief for farmers by waiving off the outstanding amount of Rs 133,55,48,000 from the previous Abiana. At the same time, Abiana has been discontinued for the future. This decision will provide approximately Rs 54 crore in relief to farmers annually.

The Chief Minister also announced that the pending amount of Rs 137 crore for compensation for crop damage caused by disasters before 2023 in the districts of Rohtak, Nuh, Fatehabad, and Sirsa will be disbursed to concerned farmers by Deputy Commissioners within a week.

The Chief Minister said now farmers will be allowed to buy a three-star motor from anywhere in the country for new tubewell connections. At present, only 10 companies of three-star motors are registered in the state. “Now all the companies manufacturing three-star motors in the country will come on the panel of Haryana and farmers will be able to buy three-star motors from any company at their convenience,” he said.

The move will provide great relief to the farmers applying for new tubewell connections till December 31, 2023, said Saini. The Chief Minister appealed to the BJP workers to pledge to visit every household to explain the policies and work done by the government so that the BJP forms its government for the third time in a row.

Only Anna Canteens, No Free Bus For Women on Aug 15th

As the pressure is mounting on Chandrababu Naidu led NDA government in Andhra Pradesh to fulfil the poll promises made before the assembly elections, there is a talk in political circles that at least two schemes will be rolled out on the upcoming August 15th.

There are unconfirmed reports making rounds in the media that Chief Minister Naidu will reopen 100 Anna Canteens and also announce the immediate start of Free Bus Service for Women across the state – one of the 6 key promises made in the NDA manifesto in the run-up to elections.

However, as per reliable reports, only Anna Canteens will be launched on August 15th and no other scheme will take off as the government is yet to finalize the proposal to start the Free Bus Service.

The other day transport Minister Mandipalli Ram Prasad stated that the government is getting ready 1400 buses to launch the scheme. However, only 400 buses are ready as of now and the remaining will be made available in a few more weeks. He clarified that the free bus service will be implemented shortly.

As Chandrababu stressed on the dire financial situation of the state several times in the last few days, there have been inhibitions over the implementation of ‘Super Six’ schemes as promised during the elections. But, the government is keen on fulfilling all promises one by one in the coming months, said close sources to it.

Amit Shah predicts INDIA bloc To Sit In The Opposition After 2029 polls Also

After his failure to get an absolute majority in the recent general elections Prime Minister Narendra Modi seems to be facing challenges one side from his NDA partners and other side from the asserted opposition parties, Union Home Minister Amit Shah went ahead predicting results of next general elections in 2029.

He predicted on Sunday that Narendra Modi will return as the Prime Minister of the country and the INDIA bloc will sit in the Opposition after the next general elections also. His remarks came while addressing a gathering in Chandigarh after inaugurating the 24×7 Manimajra water supply project.

“I want to assure you that whatever the opposition wants to say, you do not worry. In 2029 also, the NDA will come (to power), (Narendra) Modi ji will come,” Shah said.

In the same breath, he took a jibe at the Opposition over the increase in their seats in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 and said that it thinks it has won elections “with some success” and highlighted that the BJP has still won more seats than Congress did in the last three elections, in this election itself.

“They do not know it. NDA’s only one member, the BJP, has more than the total number of seats which their whole alliance has. These people, who want to create uncertainty, say again and again that this government will not run,” the Home Minister added.

Moreover, he took this occasion as an opportunity to give advice to the opposition bloc rather than attempting to correct deep rooted discontent prevailing among his own party leadership in a number of states. He advised the INDIA bloc to “learn to work effectively” in the Opposition.

“I want to assure the opposition friends that not only will this government complete its five-year term, the next term will also be of this government. Be ready to sit in the opposition and learn to work effectively in the opposition,” he added.

CM Vijayan Seeks To Declare Wayanad Landslide As National Disaster

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the tragic landslides in Wayanad should be declared a national disaster. Addressing the passing-out parade at Kerala Police Academy in Thrissur, the CM appreciated the rescue efforts being conducted by police and other forces in Wayanad.

“What happened in Wayanad was a significant disaster at the national level. The efforts of the police, who participated in the rescue mission there are commendable,” he said and added that  the police personnel risked their own lives to save others.

Earlier Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also demanded to declare it as a national disaster. However, senior BJP leader and former union minister V Muraleedharan rejected such a demand and said there is no such provision. He quoted a 2013 Parliament document in which Minister of State for Home Mullapally Ramachandran stated that `there is no provision to declare a natural disaster as a national disaster’.

Search efforts in Wayanad’s Mundakkai and Chooralmala continue on Day 6. The count of bodies recovered from the landslides-hit areas touches 219 with 206 persons still missing. Over 1,300 rescuers, heavy machinery, and advanced equipment are said to have been deployed to find survivors or the remains of those deceased.

The state Tourism Minister P A Mohamed Riyas has said that more force and equipment are being deployed in spots where chances of recovering bodies were high.

Meanwhile at a review meeting on Saturday, Chief Minister Vijayan  said the government is planning a township for the survivors “to ensure exemplary rehabilitation for those left homeless in the tragedy”. Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah has also said that his government, in solidarity with the neighbouring state will construct 100 homes for the victims of the landslides.

Suresh Gopi, Minister of State for Tourism, and Petroleum and Gas visited the landslide-hit places in Wayanad on Sunday and reviewed rescue efforts. The minister visited Mundakkai and Chooralmala, the worst affected places due to the landslide and said the impact of the landslide has to be studied.

Gopi said “rehabilitation of minds” has to be prioritised and counselling must be arranged for those affected to overcome the trauma of the disaster. The union minister discussed with Army personnel about rescue efforts being carried out in the region.

Chiru, Charan And Bunny chip In for Wayanad

The devastation caused by the unprecedented landslides last week in Wayanad district of Kerala state is not easy to estimate because hundreds of lives were lost and many others were injured. The heart-wrenching visuals of the calamity have drawn nationwide attention and called for an immediate relief from the central government.

As rescue operations in the hill station continue with the state government doing its best to restore normalcy, South Indian film stars are coming forward to lend a helping hand for the victims who suffered innumerable loss in this tragedy. Already, stars like Mohan Lal, Kamal Haasan, Suriya, Jyotika, Vikram and Rashmika etc. announced solatium to the distressed families in the form of donations to the CM relief fund.

Now, Tollywood stars also joined to chip in for the victims. As per latest reports, Megastar Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan and Allu Arjun (Bunny) expressed deep condolences to those who bore the brunt of the disaster.

While Chiru and Charan announced a donation of 1 Crore rupees to the victims, Allu Arjun also contributed his part with 25 lakhs. Many other Tollywood stars are likely to take cue from these Mega family actors and announce their charity for Wayanad victims.

Film stars often come forward and extend financial support whenever a natural disaster or pandemic results in irreparable loss to the lives of the people. There were instances in the past when stars and cricketers voluntarily donated for the victims.

Akhilesh’s DNA Test Demand Sparks political Storm In Ayodhya Gangrape Case

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav  sparked a political storm with his remarks demanding a DNA test of the accused in the Ayodhya gangrape case in which the 12-year-old victim became pregnant.

Yadav said levelling allegations to defame the SP without investigating the incident is motivated by political malice. His response came after the BJP alleged that the main accused in the case is a member of the SP.

“Whoever is guilty should be given due punishment according to the law, but if the allegations are proved to be false after the DNA test, then the government officials involved should also not be spared. Action should be taken against them,” he said.

Both the BJP and the Bahujan Samaj Party reacted sharply, saying Yadav has already given clean chit to the accused. Chief Minister Adityanath mentioned the case in the assembly on Thursday and targeted the SP.

“This is a case of Ayodhya. Moid Khan is from SP and is a member of the Ayodhya MP’s team. He has been found involved in the rape of a 12-year-old girl. The Samajwadi Party has not taken any action against him,’ he said.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Keshav Prasad Maurya slammed the SP for protecting the rapist. However, the SP also sternly hit back against the Deputy CM, calling for a narco test of him (Maurya) “to make it clear who is doing cheap politics on sensitive issues.”

“It is the innate nature of SP to save rapists. If the rapist is a Muslim, then the entire Saifai family puts its weight behind saving him. SP will be wiped out,” Deputy Chief Minister Maurya said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

BSP chief Mayawati asked how many accused were subjected to DNA tests under the SP rule in such cases, the BJP too stepped up its attack, alleging Yadav has given a “clean chit” to accused Moid Khan who is linked to the Samajwadi Party.

Meanwhile, SP leader and Akhilesh Yadav’s uncle Shivpal Yadav strongly retracted Maurya’s tweet. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Yadav responded to Maurya’s tweet, saying, “I strongly condemn the Ayodhya incident and also support the demand for a narco test made by Pawan Pandey. Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya should also undergo a narco test so that it becomes clear who is doing cheap politics on sensitive issues.”

UP minister and Nishad Party president Sanjay Nishad, who broke down in tears after meeting the victim and her family in Ayodhya, hit out at SP leaders, accusing them of shielding the accused, and said he would protest at the SP office against the atrocity.
