Former TDP MLA Adusumilli Jaya Prakash passed Away

Former Vijayawada legislator Adusumilli Jaya Prakash passed away.  A founding member of the TDP, he served the party as the first generation legislator between 1983-1985. Later he also served as the President of Vijayawada City Telugu Desam Party.

Jayaprakash, who had been ill for a few days, died on Friday after being treated for a lung infection at the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology in Hyderabad. His body reached his residence in Moghalrajpuram, Vijayawada on Friday night.

His son Adusumilli Tirumalesh said that the last rites will be performed in Vijayawada on Saturday afternoon. Jayaprakash, who was attracted towards politics in his student days, worked as a student leader in the Congress. He was the Student Union Vice President at KBN College, Vijayawada. He was earlier a strong follower of former minister Kakani Venkataratnam.

Later he joined the TDP, after it was started by NT Rama Rao and became MLA. He has fought against bifurcation of the state and he remained keeping away from active politics after bifurcation of the state.

However, he has been contributing articles analyzing contemporary politics in various newspapers and also participating in debates in news channels.

Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and many prominent people have expressed their condolences on the death of Adusumilli Jayaprakash. Former Vice President Muppavarapu Venkaiah Naidu talked to Jayaprakash’s son Thirumalesh on the phone and expressed his courage. He  said that he has played his own role as an analyst of current politics.

Former Chief Minister Nadendla Bhaskara Rao paid tribute at Hyderabad AIG Hospital and consoled his family members. Former Rajya Sabha member, Padmabhushan Prof Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad said that we have lost a leader with values. He worked without taking a step back for the ideas he believed in, he said.

Former Rajya Sabha member KVP Ramachandra Rao in his condolence message said that he was a pioneer in serving the people of Vijayawada beyond politics. Former legislator of Vijayawada East Yalamanchili Ravi and said that he had played an active role in direct politics of Vijayawada. He  said that till the last moment of his death, played his role indirectly in Vijayawada politics.

Devara : Big Test For NTR And Koratala

Next Friday will be a D-day for both NTR and Koratala Siva as they await the box office result of their second collaboration ‘Devara’, which is set for a humongous release amid high expectations. The outcome is very crucial for both the actor and the director due to several reasons. So, the film needs to strike big and emerge as a huge blockbuster.

Devara is NTR’s first solo film in six years. Though RRR brought him immense laurels and gave a big boost to his image, he needs to prove his box office potential as a solo hero and also consolidate his pan-India popularity with this film. If he fails to capture the attention of moviegoers in North India with Devara, his upcoming films might suffer due to poor market there. 

As Devara will have one more part to complete the story, the success of first part plays a significant role. Both NTR and Koratala Siva are hoping that the first part ends in a cliffhanger and keeps the buzz alive for the second part. Only then the audience will eagerly wait for the next part. Or else, the second part will be shelved due to budget constraints and because of poor hype. 

This will be a make or break film for Koratala Siva because his last film Acharya not only tanked heavily at the box office, but also damaged his reputation due to several controversies. The result also hurt him financially as per industry reports. NTR believed in his script and writing and offered him the chance after so much of deliberation. 

Koratala needs to deliver big with Devara to redeem his image and also to survive for the next few years. 

As soon much money is riding on the film, both NTR and Koratala will face a big test at the box office. They need to hit the bulls eye and score a blockbuster to live up to the hype. The film will hit the screens on September 27th.

Puri Jagannadh To compensate For Losses

Whenever a film ends as a big disaster and incurs heavy losses to its buyers, it is quite common for the director and the lead actor to compensate with their remuneration. This is the practice which is being observed in Tollywood for many years now. Sometimes, the buyers and the director involve in disputes over the settlement of such losses due to misunderstanding and lack of coordination. 

Ace director Puri Jagannadh, who is already mired in financial problems after his pan-India film Liger came a cropper at the box office, faced another setback with his recent offering ‘Double iSmart’. The film starring Ram Pothineni ended as a huge box office dud and resulted in massive losses for its buyers. Released on August 15th, Double iSmart is a sequel to the 2019 blockbuster action drama ‘iSmart Shankar’. The film was sold in upwards of 50 Crores, but recouped less than 20 Crores at the box office. 

Now, Puri and his producer decided to compensate for the losses. Sources revealed that he will return a part of his remuneration and distribute the same to the buyers who suffered losses in different territories. Producer Niranjan Reddy has reportedly put a condition to Puri either to do another film for him or to return the remuneration. So, Puri has decided to pay back some amount to settle the losses and take a call on his next project.

It is well known that Puri was involved in a huge controversy with ‘Liger’ distributors. But, this time he wants to settle the issue amicably with the buyers.

Chiranjeevi to Receive ANR National Award

September 20 marks the centenary of the legendary Tollywood actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao. To commemorate this special occasion, the Akkineni family, fans, and movie enthusiasts are celebrating with the re-release of some of ANR’s timeless classics. A notable event was held where significant announcements were made, attended by Nagarjuna and family.

In honor of the Tollywood icon, the Akkineni International Foundation has instituted the ANR National Award. This prestigious award will be presented annually to individuals for their lifetime achievements and contributions to the Indian film industry. This year, the ANR National Award will be conferred upon Padma Vibhushan Megastar Chiranjeevi.

Nagarjuna revealed this exciting news during the ANR centenary celebrations, stating, “A special event will take place on October 28, where none other than Bollywood Shahenshah Amitabh Bachchan Garu will present the award to Chiranjeevi Garu.”

He further shared, “We aim to present this award annually. When I informed Chiranjeevi Garu about our decision, he was deeply moved and hugged me, expressing that this was the biggest award of his life. We are thrilled to announce this.”
