War of words on `Sanatana Dharma’ Between Dy. Chief Ministers Pawan Kalyan And Udayanidhi Stalin

A war of words started between Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Ministers Pawan Kalyan and Udayanidhi Stalin over ‘Sanatana Dharma’. Prior to Lok Sabha elections, Udayanidhi Stalin had commented that ‘Sanatana Dharma’ is like a virus and it needs to be destroyed.

Referring to those comments, Pawan Kalyan indirectly issued a warning in Tirupati on Thursday asserting that no one can wipe out Sanatana Dharma. If anyone tries to do so, he warns they will be wiped out. When reporters questioned Stalin about this on Friday, he smiled and replied, “Wait and see. Wait and see”.

DMK leader Udayanidhi Stalin on Friday responded in the above four words to Pawan Kalyan’s latest warning that “Sanatana Dharma” is like malaria and dengue. After climbing seven hills on foot and visiting Lord Shiva in Tirumala, Pawan Kalyan made many comments on Sanatana Dharma in Tirupati.

He made it clear that he is ready to sacrifice his life for the protection of Sanatana Dharma. “You say that ‘Orthodoxy’ is like a virus. They say they will destroy it. Whoever said this, I have only one answer for them. You cannot wipe out ‘Sanatana Dharma’. If anyone tries to do that, you will be wiped out,” warned the saffron-clad Pawan Kalyan.

Pawan Kalyan did not directly mention Udayanidhi Stalin’s name in these comments. However, DMK Spokesperson Dr. Syed Hafeezullah responded to Pawan Kalyan’s comments. “DMK does not talk about any religion, or Hinduism in particular. But will continue to speak against caste atrocities, untouchability etc.”

Moreover, he alleged that “BJP, TDP and Pawan Kalyan are using religion and Hindu gods for political purposes. They are the real enemies. Pawan Kalyan’s statement is an attempt to divert the attention of crores of people”.

Before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections Udayanidhi Stalin’s comment about ‘Sanatana Dharma’ then sparked a fierce political controversy. He made this comment a few months before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections at a public event in Chennai.

He said that ‘Sanatana Dharma’ cannot be opposed only, it must be wiped out. He said that the idea of Sanatana Dharma is inherently regressive and divides people on the basis of caste and gender”. Stalin argued that orthodoxy was fundamentally antithetical to equality and social justice.

The Union Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for the Chennai Metro Rail Project Phase-II comprising three corridors.  The total length of the approved lines will be 118.9 km with 128 stations. The project completion cost is Rs.63,246 crore and is planned to be completed by 2027. Once Phase II is fully operational, Chennai city will have a total Metro Rail network of 173 Km.

It also approved conferring the status of ‘classical language’ to Marathi, Pali, Prakrit, Assamese and Bengali languages.  The classical languages serve as a custodian of Bharat’s profound and ancient cultural heritage, embodying the essence of each community’s historical and cultural milestone, the government said.

The Government of India decided to create a new category of languages as “classical languages” on October 12, 2004, declaring Tamil as a classical language and thereafter Sanskrit, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Odia languages were given classical language status.

The Union Cabinet approved payment of a productivity linked bonus of 78 days for Rs 2028.57 crore to over 11.72 lakh railway employees. The amount will be paid to various categories of Railway staff like track maintainers, loco pilots, train managers (guards), station masters, supervisors, technicians, technician helpers, pointsman, ministerial staff and other Group XC staff.

The Union Cabinet approved two umbrella schemes- Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (PM-RKVY) and Krishonnati Yojana (KY). PM-RKVY will promote sustainable agriculture, while KY will address food security and agricultural self-sufficiency. All components shall leverage technology to ensure efficient and effective implementation of the various components.

The PM-RKVY and KY will be implemented with the total proposed expenditure of Rs 1,01,321.61 crore. These Schemes are implemented through the state governments.

The government approved the National Mission on Edible Oils-Oilseeds (NMEO-Oilseeds) with an outlay of Rs 10,103 crore to make India self-sufficient in cooking oils. India imports more than 50 per cent of its annual edible oil requirement.  The mission will be implemented over a seven-year period, from 2024-25 to 2030-31.

It approved the signing of the ‘Letter of Intent’ thus enabling India to join the International Energy Efficiency Hub (Hub), a global platform dedicated to fostering collaboration and promoting energy efficiency worldwide. The government said this move solidifies India’s commitment to sustainable development and aligns with its efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

About 1.5 Lakh Houses To Be Razed To Ground In Musi Beautification!

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is said to be adamant in moving ahead in his Musi beautification plan, besides all-out protests, even from his own party. He again reiterated that the project was being taken up with a novel intention and slammed the opposition parties for instigating people to stall the project.

Admitting that some residents were against the project, the Chief Minister said opposition parties were indulging in “dirty politics by exploiting the sentiments of the poor”. As part of Musi beautification, about one and a half lakh houses are going to be razed to the ground?

This doubt arises if you look at the Google map created by Musi Riverfront Development Corporation Limited (MRDCL). According to this map the structures within the FRL (Full River Level) line look like mushrooms. If the buffer zone is calculated from there according to the rules, the trains are running in the hearts of those who come within it.

With this, they are worried that the beautification project will become a thunderbolt in their lap. According to the map prepared by MRDCL officials in coordination with various departments like Revenue and Irrigation, the outflow from Himayatsagar and the outflow from Usmansagar (Gandipet) come in different flow paths and converge into a single path near the Langar House.

From there, Musi river flows in Nalgonda district and then joins Krishna river. Musi flows for about 11.7 kilometers from Osmansagar to Bapughat near Langarhouse. Similarly, the river  flows from Himayatsagar to Bapughat for a distance of about nine kilometers. Then the MRDCL officials made a map of about 45 kms upto Gourelli in the flow path where both meet.

Government is razing the structures in Musi river bed as illegal. It is learned that 150 structures that have been demolished so far do not have much permission. The government then convinced some of them to give them double bedroom houses and demolished the houses.

But thousands of constructions in Hydershakote, Attapur and downstream Nagol neighborhood have permission as per norms. They have been paying property tax, water bill and electricity bill for decades.

Moreover, red marks have also been put on the constructions undertaken decades ago in the HUDA layout in the surrounding area of the Langar House. It means that if the earlier permits are in the riverbed, then the FRL and buffer zone beyond it is not conclusive.

Supreme Court orders Fresh Neutral SIT Investigation Into Tirupati Laddu Row

Stating that it will “not allow the court to be used as a political battleground”, the Supreme Court Friday ordered that a new Special Investigation Team (SIT) will probe into the allegations of adulterated ghee being used in laddus distributed at Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati temple under the previous YSRCP government.

Substituting the SIT set up by the state government earlier, the Supreme Court has said that the new SIT will be supervised by the director of the Central Bureau of Investigation. The panel will comprise two officers of CBI nominated by the director, two officers of the state police nominated by the state government, and one official of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).

During the hearing, the Supreme Court emphasised the need for an impartial inquiry and voiced its opinion to avoid political drama. The court expressed confidence that an independent panel would ensure public confidence in the review process.

The hearing initiated in response to a series of petitions seeking a court-supervised inquiry into serious allegations of prasad preparation at the temple has attracted a lot of attention to the issue, causing distress over food safety and religious practices.

The issue stems from Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s public statement on the former Y.S. Government led by Jagan Mohan Reddy. The statement triggered a political debate, with the YSR Congress party accusing Naidu of making unsubstantiated allegations for political gain.

In an earlier hearing on September 30, the Supreme Court referred to Naidu’s public statement that it came before the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) before filing an official FIR and ordered caution on politically charged cases.

The Supreme Court on Friday noted that the Solicitor General had recommended that a central government officer can be appointed to supervise the probe.“We clarify that our order should not be construed as a reflection on the independence and fairness on the members of the state SIT. We have constituted the committee only to assuage the feelings of crores of people having faith in the deity,” the court said.

Sand Scam : Former Director squarely Blames Jagan And Co.

Immediately after coming to power, the NDA government led by TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu has started digging deep into the irregularities committed during the previous tenure at the behest of the then CM Jagan Mohan Reddy and his coterie. Among many allegations, two biggest scams that have reportedly taken place from 2019-24 pertain to sale of liquor and illegal mining of sand. The present government intensified efforts to find out the quantum of money embezzled due to abuse of power through liquor and sand sale.

As part of its efforts, the ACB last month nabbed the kingpin in sand mining, former Mines and Geology director AG Venkat Reddy. After he was suspended on July 31st, Reddy was at large before getting arrested in Hyderabad. He was handed over to custody for further probe into the violations.

During the enquiry on the first day, he has reportedly pointed all his fingers at the previous government for all the irregularities committed in his department that are said to have caused a loss of Rs 2500 Crores to the public exchequer. For some questions, Venkat Reddy didn’t speak and maintained silence without answering the officials.

Venkat Reddy has confessed that all he did was to follow the instructions of the bigwigs in the government. He has reportedly admitted that he has no power to deny the orders of his higher ups and admitted that he acted according to their whims and fancies as there is no alternative for him being a government servant.

He has squarely blamed the government for all the violations committed in his department and also stated that he was helpless at that time when the enquiry officers asked why he blindly followed the instructions being an All India Service officer.

He was grilled several hours by the ACB officials to find out who is behind this entire scam. When he was asked about the reasons for approving tenders/agreements without following the due procedure and also for allowing some companies to continue mining despite the lapse of the contracts, Venkat Reddy has reportedly stated that the officers know who were behind all those violations.

It is evident that officials like Venkat Reddy have been used as puppets by the previous government and crores of money was looted with abuse of power. If he turns approver, there are strong chances that the government might arrest some big leaders in the YSR Congress party who worked as advisors and held key positions in the last five years.

Chandrababu kept 15 percent Growth Target In All sectors

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said that with new policies in various departments of the government, economic growth should be achieved again by putting all the sectors  to work with the target of 15 percent growth rate. He conducted a review  on the growth of agriculture allied sectors, industrial sector and services sector.

The CM said that due to the destructive policies of the previous government, all the sectors went into decline and this caused the economic system to collapse. He suggested that new policies are being brought in every department and these should be effectively implemented to achieve economic progress.Besides raising the standard of living of the people, he made it clear policies should be implemented to increase the government’s income without additional burden on the people.

Chandrababu said that cultivation costs can be reduced through comprehensive mechanization in the agriculture sector.  Government is not only giving schemes but it is important to strengthen the respective sectors and increase the income of the people, he added. The CM said that despite the difficulties of bifurcation after 2014, the state achieved a growth rate of 13.7 percent, he alleged that with the reverse decisions of the YSRCP government that came to power later, the growth rate decreased to 10.59 percent.

The CM said that in 2019, the difference in GSDP of AP compared to Telangana was only 0.20 percent, and that difference has increased to 1.5 percent by 2024. The CM said that while the per capita income of AP people was Rs.93,903 between 2014-15, the per capita income has increased to Rs.1,54,031 by 2019 due to the decisions taken by the Telugu Desam government.

While the per capita income growth was 13.21 percent during the Telugu Desam regime, it was only 9.06 percent during the previous government. He said that the growth in the per capita income of the people has fallen and the living standards of the people have been affected.

He said that the difference in per capita income between Telangana and AP was only 0.16 percent, but it increased to 1.84 percent during the previous government. The CM said that AP is at the 5th position in terms of per capita income among southern states. Keeping these in mind, the government departments should prepare a vision and work with specific goals, the CM advised the officials.
