Election Schedule Announced For AP Rajya Sabha Seats

Andhra Pradesh is now geared up for another crucial electoral exercise as the Election Commission declared three vacant seats of the Rajya Sabha for by-elections in the state. This announcement adds to the political cacophony already going on in the state as the just concluded general and MLC polls are still not over. One seat each in Odisha, West Bengal and Haryana too would be voting for their new representative.

The Rajya Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh remained vacant after the resignation of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) members Mopidevi Venkataramana, Beeda Masthan Rao, and R. Krishnaiah. Schedule of the EC, the notification for these elections will be released on December 3, with nomination procedures completing on December 10. The scrutiny of nominations will occur on December 11, while withdrawal of candidatures will be allowed up to December 13.

The voting for the seats is slated to occur on December 20 and the counting of the same will start on the same day at 5 PM. It is going to be a swift conclusion to the whole election process with the declaration of the results also on December 20.

The three MPs’ resignations are speculated to be in anticipation of something, and pressure from the BJP at the central level may have been a factor. With the Rajya Sabha Chairman accepting their resignations, the elections will also further highlight the central leadership’s involvements. The ruling coalition in Andhra Pradesh will win all three seats, thereby further cementing its position in the Rajya Sabha.

President Murmu says Indian Constitution Is A Live And progressive Document

President Droupadi Murmu said that the Indian Constitution is a live and progressive document through which the country has achieved the goals of social justice and inclusive development.

Murmu on Tuesday addressed a joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament in the historic Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan, marking the beginning of year-long celebrations to commemorate 75 years since the adoption of India’s Constitution.

The ‘Samvidhan Divas’ event saw the presence of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Leaders of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, Mallikharjuna Kharge and other prominent leaders, showcasing the significance of the occasion in India’s democratic journey.

Notably, India commemorates Constitution Day, or Samvidhan Divas, annually on November 26 to mark the adoption of the Constitution in 1949. During her address, the President also recalled the contribution of the 15 women members of the Constituent Assembly in framing the document.

“Our Constitution is a living and progressive document. Through our Constitution, we have achieved the goals of social justice and inclusive development. Law on women reservation has started new era of women empowerment in our democracy,” added President Murmu.

Calling the Constitution the country’s holiest text, Murmu said the deliberations of the Constituent Assembly for almost three years strengthened nationalist consciousness as a single nation. She acknowledged the role of Dr Rajendra Prasad. of Dr Ambedkar, the chairman of the drafting committee, as well as various officials involved in the process, including B N Rau.

Underlining that Dr Ambedkar gave a progressive tilt to the Constitution, Murmu also recalled the contributions of the 15 women members of the Constituent Assembly. “In three years, some great people made this constitution but it was in a way a product of the values of our freedom struggle. Justice, liberty, equality and fraternity are these values, which complement one another,” the President said.

President Murmu also released translated versions of the Constitution in Sanskrit and Maithili, and there was also a ceremonial reading of the Preamble led by the President.

Earlier on Monday, the government announced that a new website — https: //constitution75. com — has been created to enable citizens to engage with the legacy of the Constitution through interactive activities and resources. Mass readings of its Preamble will take place in schools, cities and villages around the country, it added.

Kamal Haasan’s Classic Film ‘Guna’ To Re-Release In Theaters

Legendary actor Kamal Haasan, known for delivering numerous cult classics in his illustrious six-decade film career, and one of them is the psychological romantic movie “Guna.” Directed by Santhana Bharati, the film was initially released on November 5, 1991. After 35 years of its theatrical release, the film is once again set to hit theaters with a grand re-release.

This cinematic gem was earlier scheduled for a re-release on June 21, but it got delayed due to legal complications. With the issues resolved in September, the film is now set to grace the big screen once again on November 29, 2024. This re-release is exclusive to Tamil Nadu, with no updates on a Telugu version so far.

Starring Kamal Haasan in the role of a mentally ill person, the movie features Rohini as the female lead, alongside Rekha, SP Balasubrahmanyam, Janagaraj, Ajay Ratnam, Girish Karnad, Sharat Saxena, and others in significant roles. Produced by Swathi Chithra International, it boasts a memorable score by musical maestro Ilayaraja as the music composer. The iconic song ‘Kammani nee prema lekha’ became an evergreen hit song and remained as the timeless classic. Fans are eagerly anticipating its release. 

The film gained renewed attention following the release of the Malayalam movie ‘Manjummel Boys,’ which was filmed at the same location as the iconic film Guna. The caves, which are located in Kodaikanal, were originally known as Devil’s Kitchen and became famously referred to as Guna Caves after the Tamil movie Guna was shot there.

Though Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has been planning to celebrate first anniversary of his government on December 7, followed by Sonia Gandhi’s birthday on December 9, Congress leaders are fearing to go to people fearing that people may revolt questioning the government’s performance.

KCR has made his mark as Chief Minister by undertaking schemes like Kaleshwaram Project, 24-hour free electricity, Rythu Bandhu, Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagiratha. But, there is not a single welfare scheme to mention in the Congress’s one-year rule.

Moreover, the party’s prestige among the people has been tarnished by incidents like Musi demolitions and encroachment on the lands of the Lagacharla tribals. In this context, the Congress leaders have started to ponder on how to go out to the people and celebrate the one-year anniversary.

Gandhi Bhavan sources say that the top leader has directed that a progress report be prepared with detailed details of the development and welfare schemes undertaken by the government, expenditure incurred, etc., and that the report be prepared to counter the criticisms of the opposition.

However, since none of the schemes like the implementation of six guarantees, job calendar, loan waiver, Rythu Bharosa, Indiramma Indlu, Mahalaxmi, Cheyutha, Rs. 4,000 unemployment allowance, Rs. 1 lakh to a girl child, etc. have been implemented, Congress leaders are afraid to go out to the people with any face.

Although the festival was initially planned to be held for two weeks, it is learnt that it was shortened to a week in the wake of complaints from MLAs and MLCs.  Except for the Mahalaxmi scheme and free travel in RTC buses, the Congress has not been able to implement anything. There is no announcement on the key promise of Rs. 2,500 per month for every woman.

The MLAs are shaking their heads, not knowing what to say if women protest in the villages. The promise of Rs. 15,000 per acre to farmers and tenant farmers and Rs. 12,000 to agricultural laborers has also fallen on deaf ears. Under the Indiramma scheme, it has promised to build 4.5 lakh houses with a guarantee of Rs. 22,500 crore per constituency, including 3,500 per constituency.

Promises like Rs. 5 lakh education assurance card for students, international schools in every mandal, and an increase in pension to Rs. 4000 have also been stalled. Congress leaders are worried about the reversal of loan waiver. While 22 lakh farmers are yet to be granted loan waiver, there is no clarity on when it will be given to them. The promise of filling 2 lakh jobs in the first year of coming to power has also gone unfulfilled.

16,000 crore For Amaravati

HUDCO and Germany’s KfW Development Bank will form into a consortium and came forward to provide a loan of Rs 16,000 crore for capital city Amaravati.  Of this, HUDCO has agreed in principle to provide a loan of Rs 11,000 crore and KfW Bank has agreed to provide a loan of Rs 5,000 crore. The process of negotiations with them is expected to be concluded in the next 15 to 20 days.

The government has given full authority to CRDA Commissioner Katamaneni Bhaskar to hold consultations with HUDCO and KfW banks on issues related to the sanction of the loan. This decision was taken at the 40th meeting of the CRDA Authority held at the Secretariat on Monday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.

Official sources said that the loan provided by HUDCO and KfW banks does not fall within the scope of the state’s loan limit. The World Bank and ADB are all set to provide a loan of Rs 15,000 crore to the capital. An agreement was recently signed between the World Bank, ADB and CRDA in Delhi.

The agreement will be approved at the World Bank Board meeting to be held on the 17th of next month. 25 percent of the loan provided by the World Bank and ADB will be disbursed to CRDA by the end of next month.

Meanwhile, the CRDA Authority has approved the assignment of the design of the High Court, Legislative Assembly, Secretariat and Heads of Department Office Towers, which will be built as iconic buildings in the capital, to renowned London-based architect firm Norman Foster and Partners. Between 2014-19, Norman Foster designed the administrative city plan, the High Court, the Legislative Assembly, the Secretariat, and the HOD office towers in the capital.

Later, the Jaganmohan Reddy government stopped the capital works and expelled Norman Foster halfway. CRDA recently called for tenders to complete the work still to be completed regarding the designs of those buildings, design the interior designs, and also to hand over the responsibility of supervising the construction of the entire buildings until the completion of the construction.

Norman Foster won the tender again as L1. The tender will be finalized to pay Rs 138 crore for the High Court and Legislative Assembly buildings, and another Rs 138 crore for the five towers related to the Secretariat and the HOD offices.

Earlier, it was planned to set up only the offices of various heads of departments in those five towers along with the Secretariat. Now it has been decided to set up the state-level offices of the state government and public sector undertakings in those five towers.

Official sources said that while lands were previously allocated in the capital for the offices of some organisations, they will be cancelled and their offices will also be set up in the five towers.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has selected his own constituency Kuppam as a pilot project for 100 percent solar power supply. Steps will be taken in Kuppam as a pilot project for 100 percent solar power supply. This decision was taken when the issues of solar villages along with the Kusum scheme being implemented by the Center were mentioned in the review conducted by the power department.

Chandrababu believes that there will be benefits in the coming days through the use of solar power. Although some investment is required at present, it is being thought that the burden on the state exchequer will be reduced in the future.

For example, the government is currently providing up to 200 units of free electricity to SC and ST communities across the state. The Andhra Pradesh government itself is paying the cost of this to the discoms. However, the AP government is thinking that if they are diverted towards solar power, the burden on the government exchequer will be reduced to some extent.

Under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli scheme, the Center and the state governments are giving subsidies to those who make solar power arrangements. If the beneficiary bears some of the cost, the rest is provided as a subsidy.

However, the state government is planning to pay the amount to be paid by the beneficiaries of the SC and ST communities. The government is thinking that by shifting towards solar power instead of free electricity up to 200 units, although there will be some initial cost, it will save money in the coming days.

The beneficiaries who have generated solar power in this way, even if they use it for their home needs, can sell the remaining solar power to the discoms. Once solar panels are installed, there will be no problem for years to come. It is learnt that the Andhra Pradesh government is now focusing on these proposals.

ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ శాసనసభ డిప్యూటీ స్పీకరు రఘురామక్రిష్ణ రాజుకు కాస్త ఉత్సాహం కలిగించే తీర్పు సోమవారం నాడు సుప్రీం కోర్టు వెలువరించింది. గత ప్రభుత్వ పాలన కాలంలో.. రాజద్రోహ నేరం కింద తనను సీఐడీ అరెస్టు చేసినప్పుడు.. అప్పటి ముఖ్యమంత్రి జగన్మోహన్ రెడ్డి ప్రోద్బలంతో పోలీసు అధికారులు తనమీద హత్యాయత్నం చేశారని కేసు పెట్టారు. ఆ కేసు త్వరలోనే ఒక కొలిక్కి వస్తుందని ఇప్పుడు రఘురామలో ఆశలు చిగురిస్తున్నాయి. అప్పట్లో రఘురామక్రిష్ణ రాజును కస్టోడియల్ టార్చర్ కు గురిచేసినట్టుగా ఆరోపణలు ఎదుర్కొంటున్న కీలక నిందితుడు విజయపాల్.. బెయిలు కోసం పెట్టుకున్న పిటిషను నుు సుప్రీం కోర్టు కొట్టేసిన నేపథ్యంలో.. త్వరలోనే పెద్దచేపలు కూడా బయటకు వస్తాయని రఘురామ అంటున్నారు.

జగన్మోహన్ రెడ్డి ప్రభుత్వం ఏర్పడిన తర్వాత అతి కొద్ది కాలానికే ఆయన పార్టీ తరఫున ఎంపీగా గెలిచిన రఘురామక్రిష్ణ రాజు వారితో విభేదించారు. అప్పటినుంచి ప్రభుత్వ నిర్ణయాల్లో తనకు ఏ లోపాలు కనిపించినా వాటిని నిశితంగా విమర్శిస్తూ యూట్యూబ్ చానెల్లో వీడియోలు పెడుతూ చెలరేగిపోయారు. ఆయన పెడుతున్న వీడియోలు ప్రశ్నిస్తున్న తీరు.. ఒక దశలో ప్రభుత్వానికి కునుకు లేకుండా చేశాయంటే నమ్మవచ్చు. పార్టీ వ్యతిరేక కార్యకలాపాలకు పాల్పడుతున్నట్టుగా ఫిర్యాదుచేసి ఆయనమీద అనర్హత వేటు వేయించడానికి అవకాశం ఇవ్వకుండా ఆయనచాలా టెక్నికల్ గా తెలివిగా వ్యవహరించేవారు.

ఒకవైపు ఆయన మా పార్టీ నాయకుడు జగన్మోహన్ రెడ్డి చాలా అద్భుతమైన హామీలు ఇచ్చారు- అని అంటారు. అదే సమయంలో.. ఈ ప్రభుత్వంలో సీఎం జగన్ ప్రజలకు ద్రోహం చేస్తున్నారు- అని అంటారు. ఇలా టంగ్ ట్విస్టర్ లాగా వైసీపీ నేతలు అధికారికంగా చర్యలు తీసుకోవడానికి కొరుకుడుపడకుండా ప్రభుత్వాన్ని తన విమర్శలతో ఉక్కిరిబిక్కిరి చేశారు. తీరా ఆయన మీద రాజద్రోహం కేసు బనాయించి.. సీఐడీ పోలీసులు హైదరాబాదనుంచి అరెస్టు చేసి తీసుకువచ్చారు. కస్టడీలో తీవ్రంగా హింసించారని ఆయన కోర్టుకు నివేదించుకుని బెయిలు పొందారు.

తీరా ప్రభుత్వం మారిన తర్వాత జగన్ ప్రోద్బలంతో తన మీద పోలీసులు హత్యాయత్నం చేశారంటూ కేసు పెట్టారు. ఆ కేసు విచారణలో అప్పటి ఏఎస్పీ విజయపాల్ ఇప్పుడు విచారణ ఎదుర్కొంటున్నారు. ఇంకా పెద్దచేపలు త్వరలో బయటకు వస్తాయని రఘురామ అనడం గమనిస్తే.. ఈ కేసులో జగన్ కు కూడా త్వరలోనే నోటీసులు వెళతాయని అర్థమవుతోంది.

Political Uproar over Revanth Reddy Refuses To Accept Adani’s Rs 100 cr Donation

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s U-turn on Monday by announcing that the Rs 100 crore donation announced by Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani to a university being set up in the state, has created political uproar.

Reddy said the Telangana government will not accept the Adani Group’s donation to the Young India Skill University. The development comes amid a political battle as the Center over fresh allegations against the Adani Group and the Congress-led Opposition is demanding a JPC probe (a Joint Parliamentary Committee investigation) in the matter.

Incidentally, Revanth Reddy makes this statement hurriedly before his departure to New Delhi to meet party supremo Rahul Gandhi, who has been carrying out a stir against Adani. Pointing out his opportunistic relationship with Adani’s, the opposition questioned the fate of Rs 12,000 worth agreements reached with Adani Group in Davos recently.

The chief minister said the decision was taken since Adani’s announcement gave rise to “unnecessary discussions” that it may appear favouring the state government or the CM, if the donation was accepted, 

He said so far the Telangana government has not accepted a single rupee into its account from any organisation, including Adani Group. “I and my Cabinet colleagues do not want to be involved in unnecessary discussions and situations that would dent the image of the state government or my own. That is why, on behalf of the state government, our official Jayesh Ranjan wrote a letter (to Adanis)”.

“Due to the (present) situation and controversies, the Telangana government is not ready to accept the Rs 100 crore donation you (Adani) generously offered,” Reddy said.

Meanwhile, BJP State General Secretary Dr. Kasam Venkateshwarlu demanded that Revanth Reddy tell whom he was afraid of and returned the cheque. Why was he not afraid of Rahul Gandhi when the agreement was made? Did Rahul Gandhi say that he would not give an appointment if the cheque was not returned?, he asked.

BRS leader and former minister T Harish Rao questioned him about the fate of the Rs 12,400 crore agreements Revanth Reddy made with Adani in Davos. Harish Rao questioned him about the conspiracies he has been making to hand over the state’s DISCOMs to Adani and privatize them.

ఇంతకూ రాంగోపాల్ వర్మ ఏం చేస్తున్నారు? ఏం పనులు చేయడంలో ఆయన బిజీగా ఉండి పోలీసులు విచారణకు పిలిస్తే హాజరు కాలేకపోతున్నారు. ఆయన కొత్త సినిమా చేస్తున్నట్టుగా ఇటీవలి కాలంలో ప్రకటన ఏదీ రాలేదు కదా. పొలిటికల్ మాయ సినిమాలు చేయడానికి ప్రస్తుతానికి సీజను కాదు కదా. మరి వర్మ ప్రస్తుతం ఏ షూటింగుల్లో బిజీగా ఉన్నట్టు? రెండు సార్లు పోలీసులను వాయిదా అడిగి.. ఆయన పరారీలో ఉన్నాడని ప్రజలు అనుకునే పరిస్థితిని ఎందుకు సృష్టించుకుంటున్నారు? అనేది ఇప్పుడు ప్రజలకు పెద్ద సందేహం.
వర్మ ఇప్పుడు ఎలాంటి షూటింగుల్లోనూ లేరు. ఏ సినిమాలూ షూటింగులు జరగడం లేదు. నిజానికి ఆయన దర్శకత్వం వహించినట్టుగా కార్డు పడుతూ విడుదలయ్యే చాలా సినిమాలకు ఆయన స్వయంగా దర్శకత్వం వహించి చాలా సంవత్సరాలు గడిచిపోయాయి అని ఇండస్టీ్ర వర్గాలు చెబుతుంటాయి.

రాంగోపాల్ వర్మ కేవలం ఒక సినిమా ఒప్పుకుంటారు. అది ‘కొండా’ కావొచ్చు. ‘వ్యూహం’ కావొచ్చు. క్యాస్టింగ్ విషయంలో ఆయన టీం చాలా గట్టిగా పనిచేస్తుంది. నిజజీవిత పాత్రలను పోలిన మనుషులను వెతికి పట్టుకుంటారు. స్క్రిప్టు తయారీలో రీసెర్చి పేరుతో ఇతరుల వద్దకు వెళ్లడం వరకు వర్మ స్వయంగా చేస్తారు. ఎందుకంటే ఆయనే సినిమాకు దర్శకత్వం వహిస్తున్నారనే భ్రమ అందరికీ కల్పించడం అవసరం కాబట్టి. అంతా రెడీ అయిన తర్వాత.. ఆయన సెట్స్ లో అడుగుపెట్టేది ఎప్పుడో ఒకసారి మాత్రమే. సెట్స్ కు లేదా, లొకేషన్స్ కు వస్తున్నారంటే.. ఆరోజున ఏదో మీడియా వారితో ఒక ఇంటర్వ్యూకూడా ఉంటుందని అనుకోవాలి.

అసిస్టెంట్లే సమస్త సినిమాను డైరెక్ట్ చేసేస్తుంటారు. ఉదయాన్నే ఆయనకు ఫోను చేసి ఏ సీన్లు ఆరోజు షూట్ చేయాల్సి ఉన్నదో చెబితే.. ఆయన కొన్ని సూచనలు చేస్తారు. అవి పాటించినా పాటించకపోయినా.. అసిస్టెంట్లు ఆ సీన్లు షూట్ చేసేస్తే చాలు. ఈ రకంగా అసలు లొకేషన్ కు వెళ్లి సినిమాలు స్వయంగా డైరెక్ట్  చేసే అలవాటునే మర్చిపోయిన రాంగోపాల్ వర్మ ఇప్పుడు షూటింగులో బిజీ ఉన్నానంటూ బ్లఫ్ చేయడం చిత్రంగా కనిపిస్తోంది. 25 వ తేదీన షూటింగు ఉన్నదని ఎప్పుడో ఫిక్సయిపోయిందని ఆయన న్యాయవాది చెబుతున్నారు. ఇంతకూ రాంగోపాల్ వర్మ పోలీసులకు చిక్కిన తర్వాత.. 25న ఏం షూటింగు చేశావు.. ఎక్కడ చేశావు.. అందుకు ఆధారాలేమిటి? అని కూడా పోలీసులు అడిగితే.. ఏం సమాధానాలు చెప్పాలో వర్మ ఇప్పుడే ప్రిపేర్ చేసుకోవాలి.

తిరుమల స్వామివారికి నిర్వహించే విశేష సేవల్లో ఉదయాస్తమాన సేవ అని ఒకటి ఉంటుంది. పేరులో సూచిస్తున్నట్టుగానే ఉదయం స్వామివారికి సుప్రభాతం పాడి మేల్కొలిపే సందర్భం నుంచి రాత్రి పవళింపు సేవ వరకు అన్ని సేవలను కూడా ఈ టికెట్ కొన్న వారు ఏడాదికి ఒకసారి  స్వయంగా దగ్గరుండి వీక్షించవచ్చు. ఈ టికెట్ విలువ సాధారణ రోజుల్లో అయితే కోటిరూపాయలు. స్వామివారికి అభిషేక సేవ జరిగే శుక్రవారం రోజునర కోటిన్నర రూపాయలు. టికెట్ కొన్నవారు తనతో సహా అయిదుగురితో ఈ సేవలో పాల్గొనవచ్చు. టికెట్ కొన్నప్పుడు ఎవరి పేర్లనైతే పేర్కొంటారో వారిని మాత్రమే అనుమతించే పద్ధతి గతంలో ఉండేది. అయితే తర్వాత అనేక అభ్యర్థనల మేరకు ఇతరుల్ని అనుమతించడం ప్రారంభించారు. అయితే వారు కోరిన తేదీనాటికి సేవకు వచ్చే అయిదుగురు పేర్లను, వివరాలను రెండున నెలల ముందే టీటీడీకి చెప్పాల్సి ఉంటుంది. ఈ పద్ధతి తెచ్చారు. ఈ విధానం 2013లో వచ్చింది.

అయితే జగన్మోహన్ రెడ్డి పాలన కాలంలో వైవీ సుబ్బారెడ్డి తర్వాత ఛైర్మన్ గా బాధ్యతలు స్వీకరించిన భూమన కరుణాకర్ రెడ్డి దీనికి కొంత సవరణ చేశారు. ఉదయాస్తమాన సేవలో పాల్గొనేదాత తనతో వచ్చే అయిదుగురు పేర్లను ప్రతిసేవకూ మార్చుకునే వెసులుబాటు కల్పించారు. అంటే సుప్రభాతానికి ఓ అయిదుగురు, తోమాల సేవకు మరో అయిదుగురు, అర్చనకు మరో అయిదుగురు .. ఇలా మార్చుకుంటూ పోవచ్చునన్న మాట. అచ్చంగా స్వామివారి సేవా టికెట్లను భారీగా బ్లాకులో అమ్ముకునేందుకు చేసిన ఏర్పాటు ఇది. అయితే భూమన ఈ అవకతవక నిర్ణయం తీసుకోగానే విమర్శలు వెల్లువెత్తాయి. అప్పటికి అమలు చేయకుండా ఆపారు.
తాజాగా బీఆర్ నాయుడు నేతృత్వంలోని పాలకమండలి ఈ తీర్మానాన్ని పూర్తిగా రద్దుచేసింది. సంపన్న దళారీలను తయారుచేయడానికి భూమన కనిపెట్టిన మార్గాన్ని పూర్తిగా తొలగించేసింది.
