Journalist Kommineni Srinivasa Rao, who was arrested and remanded in the case of conducting a debate on Sakshi TV calling Amaravati the capital of prostitutes, got a big relief in the Supreme Court. The Apex, which reprimanded Kommineni in the debate broadcast on Sakshi, suggested that he be granted bail in the lower court.

It suggested that the bail conditions be decided in the trial court itself. Kommineni applied for bail in the lower court. However, while his bail petition was pending there, he approached the Supreme Court. The bench of Justice PK Mishra, which heard the petition on Friday, granted bail and ordered his immediate release.

The Supreme Court once again advised Kommineni not to make obscene comments about Amaravati and warned him to be more careful in the future. It stated that it is granting bail subject to the conditions imposed by the lower court. The bench of Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and Justice Manmohan clarified that the trial court will give all the conditions related to the release.

It seems that the question was asked how a 70-year-old person would be arrested? The court commented that the debates should be held in a dignified manner. In the petition filed in the Supreme Court, Kommineni mentioned that he was arrested without giving 41A notices. He mentioned that how the anchor would be responsible for the comments made by the guest on the live show?

It was explained that Kommineni has no criminal record. It was explained that Kommineni tried to control the guest as part of the discussion and did not support  him.

Welcoming the Apex Court giving bail to Kommineni, YCP spokesperson Bhumana Karunakar Reddy said that the Supreme Court’s verdict on the illegal arrest of Kommineni Srinivasa Rao is a slap in the face to the coalition government. He said that the Supreme Court verdict has given a lesson to the anarchy being committed by the coalition government in the state by destroying press freedom.

He said that this verdict is like a slap in the face to the government that is trying to destroy press freedom in AP. He said that the goons and rowdy groups who attacked the Sakshi offices should be arrested immediately.

On the other hand, former minister Dr. Seediri Appalaraju said that the Supreme Court verdict that the Supreme Court verdict has made is clear that the state government did not follow the minimum norms in the arrest of Kommineni. He said that this verdict is definitely a slap in the face to the Red Book Constitution being implemented in the state.

Re-Division of SC Railway Taken Up Giving clarity on Visakha zone

The Railway Department has initiated the process to give clarity on the jurisdiction of newly created Visakhapatnam Railway Zone by reducing the South Central Railway’s jurisdiction. To this end, the Railway officials have submitted key proposals on the re-division of the South Central Railway Zone.

The Detailed Project Report (DPR) containing details of division of divisions, changes in boundaries, revenue and operation of trains has been reported to the Railway Board. The process of finalizing the boundaries of the divisions in the Telugu states has reached its final stage.

As part of the railway zone process with Visakhapatnam as its center, the Railway Board appointed a General Manager (GM) for the South Coast Zone a few days ago. It is learned that 3 more officers will be nominated soon. The team of officials will decide how to determine the boundaries of the existing and newly formed zones and how to distribute the revenue.

The DPR  is being kept confidential by the Railway officials. When it was submitted to the Parliament Assurance Committee, it was learned that the note sent by the South Central Railway only contained details of the Rayagada division and the formation of the South Coast Zone with Visakhapatnam as its center.

It was announced earlier that the Rayagada division would be formed in the East Coast Railway Zone with Bhubaneswar as its center. Some areas of AP North Andhra will come under this division. Meanwhile, there are currently 6 divisions in the South Central Railway Zone.

It seems that there are possibilities of changes and additions in the boundaries of the divisions in the context of the re-division. Accordingly, after the re-division, the Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Nanded railway divisions will be in the South Central Railway.

The current Guntakal, Guntur and Vijayawada divisions in the South Central Railway will go into the South Coast Zone. Along with these three, a railway division will be formed with Visakhapatnam as its center. With this, 4 railway divisions will be formed in the South Coast Zone. An official notification to this effect will be issued after the final decision.

He said that he has strong feelings against Chief MInister Chandrababu Naidu and the TDP, which is why Kommineni Srinivasa Rao used to call him for TV debates in Sakshi channel. It seems that he said that he developed a close relationship with him.

The Thullur police, who arrested him in the case of making inappropriate comments on Amaravati women, brought him to the Nallapadu police station in Guntur on Wednesday midnight and interrogated him at length. Explaining the journalist’s background, he first alleged that while he was working for an English newspaper, he had differences with the leaders of the then ruling party, and later transferred him to several places and finally lost his job.

Since then, he told the police that he was hostile to TDP and Chandrababu Naidu, later Kommineni used to invite him to debates on Sakshi TV. He admitted that in order to express his views further, he blown up minor issues against Amaravati and the government and spoke controversially.

The Supreme Court has refused to stop the ongoing Mega DSC exams in Andhra Pradesh. The Supreme Court has shown reluctance to hear the petition filed to stay the Mega DSC exams. The bench has advised the petitioner to approach the AP High Court in this case.

The Supreme Court has said that the petition should be filed there after the High Court resumes from June 16. The bench headed by Justice PK Mishra ruled that the Mega DSC cannot be stopped since it has already started. Justice Manmohan questioned how the exams can be stopped midway after they have started.

Additional Solicitor General SP Raju appearing on behalf of the AP government, said in his arguments that lakhs of aspirants have already appeared for the Mega DSC exam, the exams are going on, and stopping them at this stage would be an injustice to many people and would be a violation of their fundamental rights.

When Justice PK Mishra asked why the petitioner did not approach the AP High Court, the petitioner’s lawyer said that the AP High Court was on vacation, so he approached the Supreme Court with additional documents. The Supreme Court clarified that the AP High Court will resume on June 16 and if necessary, a petition can be filed there.

A mega DSC has been set up to fill 16,347 teaching posts in government schools in AP. About 5.72 lakh candidates will write these exams in a month. The Supreme Court said that it is not possible to stop the exams at this stage.

However, the petitioner’s lawyer argued that this entire process is being done unilaterally and is not transparent. Therefore, he argued that it violates the rights under Articles 14 and 15 of the Constitution of India. In any case, the petition should be filed in the AP High Court itself, which will begin on June 16. The Supreme Court refused to grant a stay, saying that it is not possible to stop the mega DSC now.

Gujarat’s Ahmedabad on Thursday afternoon witnessed one of the catastrophic aviation disasters when Air India’s London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner (AI171) crashed near a densely populated locality just 33 seconds after takeoff, killing at least 260 people. 

The plane crash, India’s deadliest in three decades, occurred barely 3km from the city’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The aircraft, carrying 230 passengers and 12 crew members, rammed into a doctors’ hostel of BJ Medical College in the Meghani Nagar area, turning the structure into a charred wreck. Among the victims was former Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani.

Air India has confirmed that its flight AI-171, operating from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick on June 12, 2025, was involved in a tragic accident. The aircraft, a 12-year-old Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, departed from Ahmedabad at 1:38 PM. On board were 230 passengers and 12 crew members, totaling 242 people.

The passengers comprised 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, seven Portuguese nationals and one Canadian national. Air India reported that out of the 242 individuals aboard, 241 fatalities have been confirmed. The sole survivor is a British national of Indian origin, who is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Meanwhile, at least five MBBS students, one PG resident doctor and the wife of a super-specialist doctor of the BJ Medical college were killed and 60 medical students injured in Ahmedabad as the plane crashed into the college complex

In the aftermath of the tragic Air India plane crash, Union Civil Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu announced that the government will constitute a high-level committee aimed at strengthening aviation safety protocols across the country. Naidu emphasised the urgency of enhancing safety mechanisms and preventive measures to ensure such incidents are not repeated.

“The loss of lives is deeply saddening. We are fully committed to improving aviation safety standards. A high-level committee will be set up to examine current systems and recommend improvements,” he stated.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the Ahmedabad crash site where Air India’s London-bound plane crashed. According to the information, the PM will visit the site on Friday morning. PM Modi has been closely monitoring the situation since the incident occurred and is receiving regular updates. During his visit, PM Modi is scheduled to assess the situation at the crash site and may also meet with the injured who are being treated in hospitals.

Natarajan Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons and Air India, announced on Thursday that the Tata Group will provide Rs 1 crore to the families of each person who has lost their life in this tragedy. The statement also read that the Tata group of companies will provide support in constructing the BJ Medical’s hostel.
