Yelamanchili: Andhra Pradesh Minister for Education and IT and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) National General Secretary Nara Lokesh participated in a meeting of key party workers in Achyutapuram, Yelamanchili constituency. Addressing the gathering, he urged the cadre to launch a door-to-door campaign from June to highlight the achievements of the alliance government. He emphasized the need to effectively communicate key initiatives, including pensions, Anna Canteens, Steel City, NTPC, and the Bulk Drug Park, cautioning that failure to do so could allow the opposition to mislead the public.
Lokesh recounted his recent visit to Delhi, where he said there was widespread discussion about TDP’s extensive membership drive. “They were surprised that while they struggled to enroll five lakh members, we successfully registered one crore. For us, membership has been an emotion since the time of NTR and Chandrababu Naidu. I extend my congratulations to the Yelamanchili constituency for enrolling 41,000 members,” he stated.
He assured recognition for party workers who contributed to the Yuva Galam padayatra and announced an online tracking system to monitor performance in social media campaigns and membership enrollment. Lokesh reiterated that those who demonstrate commitment to the party would be considered for nominated positions. “Our government will be in power for five years. Even if opportunities do not arise immediately, justice will be ensured for hardworking party workers in three phases,” he added.
TDP to Prioritize Youth Leadership
Lokesh emphasized the need to bring young leaders into politics and proposed restricting any leader from holding the same position for more than three terms. “Even a village-level president should have the opportunity to be part of the politburo,” he said. He also highlighted the challenges faced by party workers under the previous administration, including legal cases and harassment. Citing examples, he stated that Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha had faced 23 cases and recalled incidents during his padayatra, including restrictions placed on Chandrababu Naidu at Visakhapatnam Airport.
Strengthening Grassroots Committees Ahead of Mahanadu
Lokesh outlined plans to strengthen the party structure by completing the formation of family empowerment committees, booth and cluster committees, affiliated organizations, and district committees before the upcoming Mahanadu in Kadapa. Following the election of the national president at Mahanadu, the party would appoint the state committee. He directed the cadre to engage with the public every three months and assured that the party leadership remained committed to addressing workers’ concerns.
Action Against False Cases and Resolution of Local Issues
During the meeting, party workers raised various concerns, including allegations that a section of YSRCP sarpanches and supporters had applied for TDP membership. They also highlighted pending compensation for 200 families in the Achyutapuram SEZ R&R package and requested the construction of a fishing harbor at Pudimadaka. Lokesh assured the withdrawal of false cases filed against party workers and directed them to approach the party’s central office for assistance regarding employment guarantee scheme payments, Neeru-Chettu bills, and other grievances.
The meeting was attended by TDP state president Palla Srinivasa Rao, ministers Vangalapudi Anitha and Kollu Ravindra, Uttarandhra coordinator Dhamacharla Satya, Yelamanchili TDP in-charge Pragada Nageswara Rao, and other key leaders.
