When YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy was in power, his stubborn attitude towards three-capitals cost his party and his political fortunes heavily in last year’s elections. In the same way, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is seen with the same attitude with regard to auctioning of  Kancha Gachibowli lands at University of Hyderabad.

Now even Congress circles are worried that the Chief Minister’s such attitude may dent the party’s influence among people. It may be recalled that both Jaganmohan Reddy and Revanth Reddy are known for their ‘self-styled politics’, who have brought their respective parties into power in their states.

However, both are like opposite poles in politics. Revanth Reddy  himself deplored that Jaganmohan Reddy did not even call and wished him well after he became CM. Revanth’s previous work in TDP, the impression that he is a disciple of Chandrababu Naidu, the support he is enjoying from the pro-TDP media as against to Jagan’s cordial relations with former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao have been creating gulf in their relations.

When it comes to the similarities between the two, both are known for being stubborn. Both of them are leaders who have the nature of moving forward by doing what they like despite any obstacles. That is their strength and that is also their weakness.

It is known that when Jagan was in power, he brought the proposal of three capitals and declared Visakhapatnam as the executive capital. He made futile attempts to operate administrative affairs from Visakhapatnam. That is why palaces were built on Rushikonda.

This has led to severe discontent from a section of people and given a weapon to the opposition parties raising eyebrows on the environmental effort on Rushikonda, which is like a necklace of emeralds on the seashore, which was being razed to the ground for the construction of these palaces.

The Rushikonda Palace affair served as a weapon for the TDP and the alliance in the election campaign. This affair has put the YSRCP in a tight spot. Along with Visakhapatnam, the YSRCP has suffered an irreparable blow in Northern Andhra.

Now, there is opposition among the people towards the Revanth Reddy government over the Kancha Gachibowli land issue. Even those who were neutral are speaking out on this issue on social media, not to mention the BRS and BJP. Kancha Gachibowli may be government land and it may be true that it has nothing to do with UoH.

But that 400 acres of land has become a maze over time. Videos of various trees, birds, and wildlife in this maze are going viral on social media. It seems from the videos that there are also water sources there. Videos of peacocks crying while JCBs are flattening are going viral.
