Chief Minister Revanth Reddy alleged that the signatures made by KCR and Harish Rao in 2015 that there was no objection to allocating 68 percent of the water to AP have become a death sentence for Telangana. He recalled that 811 TMC of Krishna water was allocated to the joint AP, of which Telangana was entitled to 299 TMC, and they were signed in 2015.
Speaking at the government’s power point presentation on Godavari- Banakacharla at Praja Bhavan in Hyderabad, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy asserted that there was no compromise on Telangana’s water issues and they they would continue to fight to protect Telangana’s water rights. He recalled that KCR and Harish Rao had overseen the irrigation department for ten years.
He criticized that everyone thought that they would protect the state’s water rights, but those who thought that they would protect it did damage to the state. In terms of the Krishna catchment area, CM Revanth said that Telangana should get a larger share of water. He worried that the allocated 299 TMCs could not be used due to non-completion of projects. He was angry that the projects started in the combined AP were ignored for ten years.
He was worried that AP was diverting water to completed projects. “In the combined AP, life-saving projects were undertaken with Rs. 38,000 crores. Leaving life-saving projects aside, KCR took up the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project. The Kaleshwaram project was undertaken with Rs. 1 lakh crores due to the commissions. Only 168 TMCs were lifted with the project that was built at a cost of Rs. 1 lakh crores”, he said.
He deplored that the electricity bill is spending Rs. 7,000 crores to lift so many TMCs. Out of the 168 TMCs that were lifted, he said that 112 TMCs were left in vain. He alleged that they have performed occult rituals in the farmhouse to revive the party by showing AP as a loser.
Recalling that KCR had said that thousands of TMCs were being wasted in Godavari, he wondered how he could say that the 968 TMCs that were allocated were being wasted without being used?
He rained questions on where the surplus water would be if the projects were completed and used. He recalled that AP was saying that they were building dams with surplus water, and Jagan had taken up efforts to divert Godavari water to Krishna with the words of KCR.
