Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko has issued a public apology to actress Vincy Aloshious over allegations of inappropriate behaviour during the filming of their upcoming movie Sutravaakyam. The apology was made during a promotional event for the film, marking a formal closure to the controversy that had earlier led to a complaint being filed with the Malayalam Film Chamber.
“I offer my sincere apologies for what happened. It was not intentional—I said something in a light-hearted manner, without the intent to cause harm,” said Chacko. “Vincy’s reaction was strong, but I believe someone may have encouraged her to speak out.”
Responding to the apology, Vincy said, “It’s true that I felt uncomfortable at the time, and I didn’t expect such behaviour from him. However, I understand that the way I reacted caused distress to his family. The issue has now been resolved.”
Chacko added, “I didn’t anticipate my actions would cause discomfort. If they did, I truly apologise.” Vincy acknowledged the gesture, stating, “I respect him more now. He has recognised his mistake, and I can see a change in him.”
In April, Vincy had stated that she would not pursue legal action but expected accountability within the film industry. She expressed disappointment at the lack of institutional response, stating that the problems faced by women on film sets were often overlooked. Despite this, she confirmed that she would not withdraw her complaint from the Chamber.
Meanwhile, in a related development, the Malayalam film industry has introduced strict measures to combat drug use on sets. The industry body has declared that anyone caught using drugs during production will be banned. Additionally, all cast and crew members must submit a written declaration before filming, pledging not to consume drugs during shoot schedules.
Actor Vijay Deverakonda has stated that he now accepts film projects only when he is fully satisfied with the script. The Netflix documentary Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale, chronicling the personal and professional life of actress Nayanthara, is facing fresh legal trouble. AP International has filed a ₹5 crore lawsuit against the film’s producers — The Rowdy Pictures and The TWC LLP — as well as Netflix, alleging unauthorized use of video clips from the 2005 Tamil blockbuster *Chandramukhi*.
The Madras High Court, which admitted the petition, has issued notices to the producers and Netflix Entertainment Services India. In its plea, AP International claimed ownership of the audio and video rights to Chandramukhi and accused the documentary team of using footage sourced from YouTube without prior permission, thus violating copyright laws.
AP International stated that a legal notice was initially sent, following which the producers approached them for licensing. The company is now demanding immediate removal of the disputed clips from the documentary and is seeking ₹5 crore in damages.
This marks the second major copyright issue for the documentary. In November 2023, actor-producer Dhanush filed a ₹10 crore lawsuit, alleging that visuals from his production Naanum Rowdy Dhaan were used without authorization. With the current dispute over Chandramukhi, the documentary has once again become a focal point of legal and industry debate in Kollywood.

The Andhra Pradesh government is preparing to implement one of its major election commitments — free travel on RTC buses for women — from August 15. To prepare, officials are making arrangements for extra buses and fortifying logistics to make the launch of the scheme a smooth affair.
During his recent visit to Srisailam in Nandyal district for the Jalaharathi program, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu offered a major update. Sharing what he described as “good news for women”, the CM officially announced that from August 15, women will be able to travel free of cost in APSRTC buses — but the benefit is limited to travel within their respective districts. He made it clear that no ticket fare will be charged, and women won’t have to pay even a single rupee for these rides.
This declaration provides much-needed clarity in the backdrop of persistent rumors regarding the extent of the scheme. Previously, in Assembly sessions, the Tribal Welfare Minister had also made it clear that the free bus travel facility would be limited to district routes, allaying fears raised by opposition YSRCP leaders, who were in doubt if the advantage would be provided for the whole state.
Now with the Chief Minister also upholding the same stance, it is clear that the women in all 26 districts of Andhra Pradesh will have free travel on buses but only within district limits.
