AP IPS Raghurami Reddy Posted To Assam On Poll Duty

In a surprising and strategic move the Election Commission of India (ECI) has posted senior AP police officer Kolli Raghurami Reddy as Election Police Observer in Assam. Reddy is presently heading SIT at AP CID and is said to be close to chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy.

He had arrested Chandrababu Naidu last year and was also investigating several other politically sensitive cases like capital lands. Opposition leaders are accusing him of playing a crucial role in `creating’ false evidence against key opposition leaders, including TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, Atcham Naidu, Dr Narayana and Nara Lokesh, to fabricate them in false cases.

Opposition parties have been demanding to keep him away from election related duties in the state. Only on Monday a big uproar arose over the burning of a large number of papers at the SIT compound. While the CID claiming them to be `waste papers’, the TDP leaders alleged that expecting a change of government after the polls senior officials destroyed `false evidence’ papers, so as to cover up their misdeeds.

Meanwhile, it was also speculated that key papers obtained from Heritage Foods were also burnt. Even while this controversy continued, the ECI orders reached on Monday evening. Normally, ECI appoints retired police officers as Election Police Observers in critical states. But, it chose to appoint Rahhurami Reddy for Assam.

This directive is likely to make YS Jagan uneasy, as he will be kept away from the state during the election period. Kolli Raghurami Reddy has been posted as a police observer for 10 assembly constituencies in Assam. He will be based in Guwahati to perform his duties.

His prominence in the present government reflects with holding him to several key responsibilities. Besides heading SIT, he is also in charge of Vigilance and Enforcement department. He was also appointed as DG of the Drug Control Board.

Former Minister Samanthakamani Resigned From YSRCP

In a big jolt to YSRCP in Anantapur district, senior politician and former minister Samanthakamani and her son Ashok have resigned from the ruling party YSRCP. Very recently her daughter, Yamini Bala too resigned from the YSR Congress Party.

Samanthakamani, a popular SC leader in the district, has started her political career in the Congress Party and served as the General Secretary of the Anantapur District Congress Committee in 1980. Later, she served as a minister from 1989-1991. After that she resigned from Congress and joined TDP.

In 2014, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu gave a chance to his daughter Yamini Babu. She won as MLA. But, by 2019, politics has changed. As TDP was unable to give another chance for Yamini Bala to contest in the elections giving seat to Bandaru Shravan, they resigned from the TDP.

Samanthakmani, who was a TDP MLC, tried till the end to get a ticket for her daughter, but to no avail.  As a result, Samanthakmani, who was an MLC in TDP, and her daughter, former MLA Yamini Bala, resigned from TDP during the local body elections in AP and joined YCP in the presence of CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy. Now they said goodbye to that party as they did not get a YCP ticket again.

TMC Leaders Arrested At ECI For Holding Dharna

Several Trinamool Congress leaders, including MPs, were detained by the Delhi Police as they staged a protest outside the Election Commission headquarters in Delhi  on Monday against the alleged misuse of the central probe agencies.

A party delegation met the full bench of the poll panel and demanded that the chiefs of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED), National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Income Tax Department be changed.

TMC leaders Derek O’Brien, Dola Sen, Saket Gokhale and Sagarika Ghose were part of the delegation which appealed to the poll body to create a level-playing field for all political parties before the upcoming Lok Sbaha elections.

The party has been alleging that the central probe agencies have been targeting opposition parties at the behest of the BJP-led Centre.   “The BJP is misusing central agencies against us. The way NIA, ED and CBI are working and targeting TMC leaders is shameful. We would request the EC to ensure a level playing field for all political parties,” Sen said.

The TMC protests came days after a team of the NIA was attacked in West Bengal’s Purba Medinipur district, sparking a political slugfest between the BJP and the TMC. The agency team had reached the village to investigate a 2022 bomb blast case.

The TMC alleged on Sunday an “unholy alliance” between the NIA and the BJP ahead of elections, prompting the central investigating agency to deny any mala fide intention and label the entire controversy as “unfortunate”.

A team of the NIA was allegedly attacked by a mob on Saturday when it went to arrest two main suspects in a 2022 blast case in West Bengal’s Purba Medinipur district, sparking a political slugfest with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accusing the investigators of assaulting the villagers.

Faction Havoc In Palnadu, TDP Office Set Fire In Krosuru

Ahead of elections, faction havoc raises cruel head in Palnadu region of Andhra Pradesh. Hours after TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu ignated election campaign in the region by addressing a massively attended Prajagalam public meeting in Krosur of Pedakurapadu constituency, some miscreants burnt the local TDP office on Sunday night, invoking faction war bells.

The people of Krosur panicked as the fire spread on a large scale. TDP, BJP and Jana Sena leaders reached the spot and controlled the fire after getting information about the incident. TDP MLA candidate Bhashyam Praveen opened a party office in Mannem Bhushaiah complex less than ten days ago.

A canopy with palm trees has been arranged for holding meetings and meetings. The TDP activists alleged that despite the fact that there was a fire station nearby, the personnel arrived late to put out the fire.

Soon after the fire mishap, the police were alerted and set up a picket  at the scene. The leaders of TDP and Jana Sena reached the junction of four roads in Krosuru. TDP candidate Bhashyam Praveen inspected the incident site.

The ranks of TDP have alleged that the leaders of the opposition party could not bear the success of TDP chief Chandrababu Prajagalam Sabha. TDP candidate Bhashyam Praveen was furious over this incident. He was accused of committing misdemeanors because he could not bear to see the response of the public to the assembly.

They expressed their anger that the YCP gangs had attacked and set fire to it by pouring petrol on it. He said that TDP, which is committed and disciplined, does not do dirty politics. He demanded immediate arrest of the accused.

Meanwhile, TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu has strongly condemned  burning of TDP office in Krosuru, accusing YSRCP resorting to `political violence’ in a desperate mood fearing defeat in the polls. He alleged that YSRCP rowdy mobs have set the TDP office on fire.

The former chief minister said on Twitter: YCP mobs are not sleeping when they know that they are sure to lose power. That is why in madness they set fire to the TDP office in Krosuru of Palnadu district in the middle of the night. It is alleged that they did this because they could not bear to see the response of people who came to the Krosuru Prajagalam public meeting. Rowdyism, vandalism, terrorizing the people… this is the true nature of the YCP. He appealed that  people to unite and drive YCP bullies out of politic

Kangana Ranaut Proudly States: ‘I Don’t Consume Beef, I’m Hindu’

Setting aside rumours and saying she is proud to be Hindu, BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh and actor- turned politician Kangana Ranaut on Monday clarified that she “doesn’t consume beef”.

“I don’t consume beef or any other kind of red meat, it is shameful that completely baseless rumours are being spread about me,” she said in a post on X.

“I have been advocating and promoting yogic and ayurvedic ways of life for decades now. Such tactics won’t work to tarnish my image. My people know me and they know that I am a proud Hindu and nothing can ever mislead them, Jai Shri Ram,” she added.

Earlier, a controversy erupted after Congress leader Supriya Shrinate’s offensive social media post about actor-turned-politician Ranaut. Later the Congress leader said that someone with access to her social media accounts had posted the objectionable content.

The BJP last week lashed out at Maharashtra leader of Opposition and Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar over his remarks claiming Ranaut had written on X that she liked and ate beef and that the BJP has now given her a ticket for the Lok Sabha elections.

Some users on social media even dug out an old tweet of Kangana from 2019, in which she had written about her yogic lifestyle. However, the post wasn’t worded in the first person. It said, “There is nothing wrong with eating beef or eating any other meat. It’s not about religion! It’s not a hidden fact that Kangana turned vegetarian 8 years ago and chose to be a yogi. She still doesn’t believe in just one religion. On the contrary, her brother eats meat.”

Congress Moves EC against PM Modi’s Muslim League Remark

Days ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections, the Congress party on Monday moved the Election Commission (EC) against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for comparing the party manifesto with the Muslim League.

Taking to X, senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that a party delegation met with the Election Commission and presented and argued as many as six complaints, including two against the Prime Minister.

He said the complaint has been filed against the Prime Minister’s absurd claim that the Congress Nyay Patra is attempting to divide the country and imposing the pre-independence ideology of the Muslim League.

A delegation of former Union Minister Salman Khurshid, Rajya Sabha MP Mukul Wasnik, Pawan Khera and Gurdeep Sappal met officials of the poll body on Monday afternoon at the Nirvachan Sadan.

The Congress also filed a complaint against the “continued use of Armed Forces in election campaigning by the BJP in violation of the MCC… despite previous instances of use of Armed Forces in political campaigning by the BJP being duly raised before this Hon’ble Commission”.

Another complaint was filed against Union Minister and BJP’s Thiruvananthapuram candidate Rajeev Chandrasekhar “for allegedly giving false information pertaining to his financial status in his election affidavit”.

The Congress leaders further raised the party’s complaint against the “life-size hoardings and banners of the PM installed in various colleges of the Delhi University under the ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047: Voice of Youth Campaign’”,  stating that it violates provisions of the Model Code of Conduct.

Telangana Leader Predicts TDP, Allies Win In AP

As the process of nominations is about to start in next ten days in Andhra Pradesh, senior leader from Telangana and former MLA Gone Prakash Rao has predicted that TDP and its allies are certain to retain power.

He felt that ruling YSRCP suffered to some extent with TDP reaching into alliance with Jana Sena and BJP. According to him these three parties together are likely to win 130 to 145 assembly seats, out of total 175 seats, besides 19 to 21 Lok Sabha seats, among total 25 seats.

However, he said that TDP and Jana Sena are losing some assembly seats due to alliance with BJP. Electorally, he said BJP will not be a advantageous allay.  According to his analysis, YSRCP is liekly to win majority of seats only in Chittoor and Kadapa districts. In all other distircts TDP and its allies will get majority of seats.

In Pithapuram, from where Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan is contesting, he will win with a majority of 50,000 to 60,000. Gone Prakash Rao also predicted that there will be a possibility of Pawan Kalyan to contest in the Lok Sabha elections at the last minute, as by winning as MP he can become minister in the union cabinet.

Gone Prakasa Rao, who was closely associated with YS Rajasekhar Reddy hailed that Pawan Kalyan sacrifices in number of seats keeping in view of the future of the state and to ensure a change of government in the state.

Accoding to him, these elections are crucial for TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and that’s why he joined alliance with BJP. The cordial environment created between TDP and Jana Sena cadres facilitates smooth transfer of votes among their supporters, he added. Even if TDP contest alone, he felt it would have win 90 to 95 seats.
