AAP Sees Plot To Impose President’s Rule In Delhi

Delhi Cabinet minister Atishi on Friday alleged that a big political conspiracy is being hatched by the BJP-led central government to impose President’s Rule in the national capital.

“Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest is a political conspiracy to topple his government. We have learnt from reliable sources that in the coming days, the President’s Rule will be imposed in Delhi. But imposing President’s Rule in Delhi will be illegal and against the mandate of the people,” she said at a press conference here.

The minister said that in the last few months, no senior IAS officer has been posted in Delhi. “Posts are lying vacant in departments but no postings have taken place. Bureaucrats have stopped attending meetings called by ministers, citing the Model Code of Conduct. The lieutenant governor has been writing letters to the MHA over the functioning of the Delhi government,” she alleged.

The minister said the BJP already knew that it “cannot come to power” in the national capital. “AAP has defeated the BJP in the Delhi Assembly elections in 2015 and 2020. That is why they want to topple the Delhi government. But the imposition of the President’s Rule will be illegal since the Delhi government enjoys a majority. We proved our majority through a floor test on February 17 this year,” she said.

However, refuting AAP leader’s charge, Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva said it was surprising that the “fear of President’s Rule” was haunting the Aam Aadmi Party, which has 62 MLAs in the Assembly. He also demanded the resignation of Kejriwal from the post of chief minister. He slammed Atishi over this and charged that Kejriwal was feeling the heat of the Delhi High Court’s rebuke.

EC In Dilemma In Initiating Action Against Sajjala!

The Election Commission is said to be in dilemma in initiating action for violation of election code by AP Govt. Advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, though it has been receiving several complaints from the opposition parties.

TDP state president K Achchemnaidu complained on March 24 alleging that being a state government advisor, he is acting like a political leader, daily holding media briefs on behalf of YSRCP. Moreover, it was alleged that he spewed poison on the opposition parties.

However, AP Chief Election Officer M K Meena seems to be not clear on how he can initiate action against him. The main problem for him is that the election rules do not specify any action to be taken if the government advisors cross their limitations.

According to sources, Meena recently wrote a letter to Central Election Commission Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar seeking his suggestion on this issue.

There are 40 advisers in the government, out of which 9 are of cabinet rank, and the remaining 31 are in the P, Q, R categories, and are enjoying the facilities by receiving salaries and allowances from the government.

The EC was requested to clarify the manner in which a decision should be taken on this issue to be applicable to all advisers. As the advisors are receiving salaries from the government treasury and enjoying facilities at government expense, the opposition leaders are arguing that election code is certainly applicable to them.

Therefore, there is a demand that the Election Commission should take cognizance of their activities from the point of election code and they should be made answerable for any violation of the code. It may be wondered that how can ECI ignore their activities for the simple reason their category is not mentioned in their rule book?

Anyhow, the ECI’s possible response to the complaint against Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy is creating enthusiasm in the political circles.

TDP Certain To Regain Its Hold From Various Major Castes

In every election, some prominent castes alter poll results in Andhra Pradesh. TDP was badly defeated in the 2019 elections as it lost significant support from some crucial caste groups, who were earlier known as its hardcore supporters.

According to CSDS-Lokniti data, in 2014, 64 percent of the Reddys voted for the YSRCP, but in 2019, it increased to 86 percent. In 2014, YSRCP received 57 percent of SC votes to 76 percent in 2019, and in 2014, 37 percent of BC votes increased to 39 percent in 2019.

Since the inception of TDP, BC has been the backbone of the party. Every time a section of BCs goes away from the party, TDP was seen losing in polls. This was reflected in the 1989, 2004, 2009 and 2019 elections.

In 2014, TDP got 54 percent of the BC votes, but in 2019, it got only 46 percent. Besides a loss of 8 per cent votes in BCs, the TDP also lost support from the Kamma community, by 12 per cent votes compared to 2014, giving the party a crushing defeat.

In 2019, 7 percent of Reddys supported TDP. Ever since the inception of TDP, the Reddy community has never had such low support. 26 percent of the total votes received by the Jana Sena, which contested the 2019 elections for the first time.

Now YSRCP is spreading the notion that if TDP-Janasena-BJP contest together, some BC castes will not vote for this alliance. But, it should be noted here that in 2014 when the Jana Sena supported the TDP, the BC caste votes went to the TDP at 54 percent.

Like the 2019 elections, the Reddy community is now not ready to side with the YCP unilaterally. They are angry with YSRC for bringing in volunteers and undermining their leadership locally.

In the current situation, if we look at the percentage of votes by social groups, it is clear that the percentage of votes received by YCP in 2019 in each social group is likely to decrease significantly. As the social groups that supported the YSRCP in 2019 are drifting away, groups alienated from the TDP, especially BCs and farmers, are coming back closer, the electoral scenario may transform completely, to the advantage of TDP and its allies.

New To Politics Madhavi Latha Confident To Face Owaisi In Hyderabad

Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency is known as the fortress of AIMIM chief and four-time MP Asaduddin Owaisi and earlier it was represented by his father. Nearly since three decades no party has been able to challenge their supremacy.

Earlier, senior BJP leaders like Baddam Bal Reddy and M Venkaiah Naidu tried to defeat them, but failed. But this time a young business woman Madhavi Latha (49) in her debut electoral contest expressed confidence to change the scenario.

Known for her religious and philanthropist activities in the old city, suddenly she emerged as BJP candidate, though she is not familiar with BJP leadership. However, for the last two years as a businesswoman, in a very systematic way she has been attempting to intrude into Owaisi’s fortress.

Ironically her familiarity with electoral systems and BJP’s organizational machinery was also negligible. This has reportedly created some gap with the party cadre to her.  Most prominently, the three-time Goshamahal MLA Raja Singh, who also expressed intention to contest in Lok Sabha polls, keeping away from poll campaign.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP fielded Dr. Bhagavanth Rao against the AIMIM chief. However, the BJP candidate stood a distant second, losing to Owaisi by 2,82,186 votes. He received just 26 per cent of the total votes polled to Owaisi’s 58.95 per cent. Mostly, AIMIM success depends upon its proximity with the ruling party in the state.

For a long time it was sailing with Congress party, but shifted to BRS after the latter came to power in the newly created Telangana state. But, soon after BRS lost power and Congress government was formed it is now cultivating cordial relations with it.

Though Owaisi has been putting up candidates in several Lok Sabha constituencies of various states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Maharashtra, it is confined to Hyderabad seat in Telangana. As per understanding the ruling party will field a weak candidate, who can divide Hindu votes and helps contests for AIMIM.

That’s why though several prominent Muslim leaders’ names appeared for the Hyderabad seat as Congress candidates, sources said it is fielding a Hindu candidate only. In return, AIMIM will extend support to Congress in the remaining Lok Sabha seats of Telangana, where Muslims are in considerable numbers.

AIMIM also has an excellent cadre who can manipulate polling booths in the old city, where BJP is lagging behind. How far Madhavi Latha can face AIMIM tricks? It is the million dollars question now.

The states and UTs which are set to polls in the third phase include Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Goa, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. Himachal Pradesh Police chief Sanjay Kundu has said that security forces are maintaining a strict vigil on the state’s borders with Punjab in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. This is being done to “ensure free and fair polls” in the state, the director general of police (DGP) said during a high-level meeting held here on Wednesday night.

The meeting was attended by superintendents of police from Himachal Pradesh’s Una and Kangra districts, and Punjab’s Hoshiarpur, Ropar and Nawanshahr districts. They discussed the need to create a mechanism for quick sharing of security-related information, and maintaining close coordination and cooperation between the security agencies of the two states, police officials said.

As Himachal Pradesh shares a 352-km border with Punjab and 240-km border with China, it requires heavy security preparedness to keep anti-social and anti-national elements under check, particularly, during elections, DGP Kundu said.

He said Himachal Pradesh has 107 inter-state barriers, including six with Punjab. Because of military installations at sensitive places like Pathankot, inter-state police coordination has been planned keeping national security at the forefront.

Pavan Flys YCP Turned Konaseema Greenery Into A Conflict Zone

Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan, strongly condemning the `politics of violence’ spread by the ruling YSRCP government in the state, lamented that it has turned the Konaseema, known for its greenery, into a conflict zone.

Participating in the election campaign along with TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday in Konaseema, he assured that TDP, Jana Sena and BJP will work together to restore peace by spreading love in the environment of strife.

He said that this is a very pleasant and peaceful area in the entire state with 2.5 lakh hectares of coconut plantation, but unfortunately it was turned into a place of strife by the YCP leaders.

Expressing concern over the miserable conditions that are forcing Konaseema farmers to declare a ‘crop holiday’, he said that they will do whatever is needed to restore confidence among them. He alleged that chief minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy failed to execute whatever promises he made to people in this region and alleged not showing any interest for the development of this beautiful region.

He recalled that CM Jagan announced to provide Rs 40 crore for Appanapalli Lift Irrigation scheme, that provide irrigation to 4,000 acres, but not a single penny was given. Likewise, he said that  Vedurupidem causeway construction is also not done.

He deplored that these places are submerging frequently in floods and Jagan promised to provide Rs 25 crore to take up corrective measures, but not a single work is taken up.

Jana Sena chief said that last year on July 6, when CM Jagan visited, Konaseema announced to spend Rs 30 crore for Lanka villages, but nothing was done. The promise of strengthening embankments with Rs 200 crore to protect coastal areas from submersion during Godavari floods, also not taken up till now, he added.

Chandrababu Announces Rs 4,000 Pension For BCs After 50 Years Age

TDP chief and former chief minister N. Chandrababu Nadi made a key announcement on the occasion of Jyoti Rao Phule’s birth anniversary, on Thursday. He said that once they come to power in AP, they will give a pension of Rs.4,000 per month to the BCs after 50 years of age. He said that he will implement the BC sub plan with Rs 1.50 lakh crores.

He said that Rs. 10,000 crores will be spent in five years for the self-employment of BCs. He made these announcements in a Twitter post. Chandrababu further said that equipment worth Rs. 5,000  crores will be provided to the professionals through Adarana scheme.

Naidu also announced that after coming to power, he will restore Chandranna insurance scheme for BCs, which was shelved by the YS Jaganmohan Reddy government. Moreover,  the compensation to be provided under this scheme will be increased to Rs.10 lakh.

He explained that the wedding gift will be increased to Rs.1 lakh. Chandrababu said that he will restore 34 percent reservation for BCs in local bodies. He made it clear that the assembly will pass a resolution for 33 percent reservation for BCs in the legislature and send it to the center.

He said that permanent caste certificates will be provided to BCs. Chandrababu said that he will take many more programs for BCs welfare and provide governance in order to realise the expectations of  Phule.

He hailed Jyoti Rao Phule as the first generation social reformer, who sowed the seeds of ‘caste abolition’ movements in modern society. He said that Telugu Desam Party has a history of giving priority to the weaker weaker sections in politics and governance, taking inspiration from Phule. He reminded that the credit of bringing a sub-plan to the backward communities goes to TDP, which is known as the party of BCs.

Nara Lokesh Turn Main Attraction In Coimbatore Campaign

Telugu Desam Party National General Secretary and former AP Minister Nara Lokesh has become a center of attraction in the Tamil Nadu elections. He is campaigning extensively in the Coimbatore Lok Sabha constituency for two days seeking the success of BJP candidate and state BJP chief K Annamalai.

His road shows on Thursday evening attracted a large number of people. The constituency is known for the presence of Telugu speaking people in large numbers. Speaking in Telugu language, Lokesh tried to reach them more forcefully.

Referring to Annamalai padayatra undertaken in the state, Lokesh said that this makes him reach the people nook and corner and also to realise their long-pending problems. He said this makes him work more effectively to resolve their problems, after people elect him.

Moreover, he said that Annamalai is more attached with the youth, unemployed, poor and farmers and their problems and assured he will represent them more effectively. Stating that he is a tireless political fighter, Lokesh assured that he can also fight against the anti-people policies of the state government.

He appealed to the people to elect Annamalai, the most promising leader of the country, with a huge majority. He recalled that Annamalai took up politics as a mission after leaving his bright IPS career only to serve the people, particularly marginalized sections of people with commitment.

For a strong country, he said we need to have strong states too. He expressed hope that both Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh together can strive hard to build a strong country and stood like a rock for the development of the nation. He recalled that both the states had cordial relations for centuries.

Lokesh predicted that the NDA will once again form the government at the center and win more than 400 Lok Sabha seats. In Andhra Pradesh, he said that the TDP-Janasena-BJP alliance is going to win the AP elections and the war is one sided. He commented that the people there have already decided whom to vote for and no one can change it.
