At a time when there is widespread criticism that the failure of the police was the reason behind the stone attack on Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy in Vijayawada, suspicion arose over their inaction before and after the incident. Even after 36 hours of the attack, no progress is seen in the investigation.

There is still no clarity on how the attack on Chief Minister Jagan took place. At first it was spread that stone was thrown. After that, various versions came to the fore that he was hit with a cat ball and then attacked with an air gun. But the police are still silent on the reason for the blow.

The ruling party seems to be more interested in making it a political issue to blame the opposition, more than showing any interest to find out the truth. In this regard the performance of AP Police on security issues has become a topic of discussion.

It was clear that the Chief Minister was in a hurry to flatter himself, but he was squatting due to the display of power at the field level. Even the minimum response that should be followed in case of an attack on the Chief Minister was lacking from the police on Saturday.

Even after Jagan was hit in the upper part of the eye, the Chief Minister remained on the top of the vehicle for a while. At that time there was no prompt response from the police. The fiber sheets that were supposed to be blocked to block the attacks were not seen in anyone’s hands.

The police who were supposed to form a shield around the Chief Minister looked down and bent down to make the CM a more direct target for the attacker. He was allowed to continue in the same vehicle even after the attack. This also caused many suspicions.

Senior officers too expressed numerous concern regarding the security of Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy since the beginning. Security was increased as soon as he came to power because he would be a target.

Moreover, he is seen showing more interest in comparing his security with that of the   Leader of Opposition  Chandrababu Naidu, who is under the protection of National Security Guards (NSG). Wherever he goes, he is under the protection of NSG commandos in the front row. After them only, the state police will be on security duties.

As there are commandos in black uniforms around Chandrababu for protection, a few years ago CM security was also arranged with the same type of uniforms for the protection of CM Jagan. The police also released special video shoots with the commandos set up for the security of the Chief Minister.

However, the attack on Jagan made it clear that the Chief Minister did not pay even a tenth of the attention given to the uniforms to his security. Restrict the Chief Minister to his home for five years, imposing restrictions on meeting people, cutting down trees during CM’s visits, erecting curtains across the roads… such measures only make him go away from the people.
