Telangana state BJP President N Ramchander Rao demanded Congress government to provide 42 percent reservations to only the BC community without allocating any share to other communities. Addressing a dharna organised by BJP OBC Morcha at Dharna chowk, Indira Park, Rao asked Congress government to omit 10 per cent reservations to muslims from 42 percent BC reservations list as BJP would oppose religion-based reservations.
A large number of party workers attended a Dharna which was organised demanding implementation of Kamareddy BC declaration where the Congress party has promised and decided to provide 42 per cent reservations to the BC community.
He lamented that the Revanth Reddy government is trying to politicise the issue of BC reservations by organising protests at Jantar Mantar in Delhi as the Congress party is unable to implement 42 per cent reservations and is trying to blame the centre to cover up its inability and failures.
He demanded Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to apologise to Backward Classes for not fulfilling his promises. Stating that BJP is the only party to work for the welfare of BCs, Rao said the party has made a BC leader Narendra Modi as Prime Minister and there were 27 BC leaders in his cabinet besides the party has made five BC leaders as Chief Ministers in BJP ruled states. But, he recalled that Congress party has never made a BC leader as CM neither in United Andhra Pradesh or Telangana.
Rao said the Karnataka government had made a promise of reservations to BCs before assembly elections in that state. But it has not fulfilled its promises. In Telangana also, the Revanth Reddy government has raised the same issue of BC reservations just before local body elections. But it is not going to fulfil its promises , he added.
”Let CM Revanth Reddy explain how much money he has spent for the welfare of BCs in the state so far” the state BJP chief questioned. Rao appealed to BCs to support BJP which is fighting for justice to the community.
