After months of campaigning, the moment has finally arrived: the Maharashtra and Jharkhand Assembly Election results will be announced today. As per projections, Mahayuti is ahead in 228 seats, while the MVA has a lead in 53. Other parties have managed to forge an early lead in 13 seats. The BJP itself crossed 100 in early trends.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has begun counting votes, and all eyes are on the state’s 288 constituencies. The stakes are high. The BJP-led Mahayuti coalition is hoping to secure another term, while the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance aims for a comeback. The Exit polls also predicted MVA return back in the polls.
This is the first battle of alliances in Maharashtra post the splits – the Sena (in 2022) and later the NCP (in 2023). The big question is, who will rule Maharashtra: Eknath Shinde (Shiv Sena), Devendra Fadnavis (BJP), and Uddhav Thackeray (Shiv Sena UBT).
With vote counting underway for Jharkhand’s 81 Assembly constituencies, the JMM-led alliance is ahead in 51 seats, while the NDA is leading in 27. Both the NDA and the INDIA bloc are targeting the crucial 41-seat majority.
