Former Chief Minister and Congress star campaigner in Haryana, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, stated that the BJP had already admitted its defeat. He made this claim during a recent statement. He emphasized that this admission came especially after former Chief Minister Manohar Lal made an offer. That offer was for Congress MP Kumari Selja to join the BJP. Hooda highlighted the significance of this offer in revealing the BJP’s situation.
Hooda praised Selja as a senior and responsible leader of the party. He made this statement in response to BJP leaders’ claims that she is dissatisfied with the Congress. They also suggested that she is distancing herself from the poll campaign.
He confidently stated that the Congress is ready to form a majority government in Haryana. He urged voters to support the Congress candidates. He also criticised Opposition parties, claiming they have failed to connect with the people.
Highlighting the public’s discontent with the BJP-JJP rule over the past decade, Hooda made a strong assertion. He stated that the upcoming Congress government would address the people’s needs. He contrasted this with the current administration’s failure to address citizens’ concerns. Additionally, he emphasized that this government would genuinely represent those needs.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on the Congress, calling it an “anti-Dalit” party. He also stated that it “insulted” Dalit leaders like Kumari Selja and Ashok Tanwar.
The ruling BJP has been targeting the Congress over Dalit leader Selja staying away from the poll campaign. Recently, Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar invited Selja to join the BJP. This invitation came amid reports that she was staying away from the campaign for the Assembly polls.
However, party general secretary Randeep Surjewala refuted the BJP’s claim that Selja was sulking. He made this statement on Monday. Surjewala said that Selja will campaign for the party. He also mentioned that she will address a public meeting in Narwana this week. In a post on X, Surjewala said Selja would address a public meeting in Narwana on September 26. He also stated that she would campaign for the Congress.
Selja reportedly felt upset after the party allowed her rival, former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, a free hand. This situation contributed to her dissatisfaction. This freedom was related to ticket distribution. Most of the candidates who received tickets were loyalists of the two-time former CM. This situation contributed to her dissatisfaction with the party’s decisions.Hooda’s loyalists also occupied the majority of the 17 reserve (SC) seats.
Selja is a former Union Minister and a prominent Dalit face of the party. She enjoys a strong support base in many districts. This includes areas such as Sirsa, Ambala, and Hisar.Recently, many BJP leaders have been targeting the Congress over alleged disrespect towards Selja. They have highlighted her absence from the campaign trail. Selja’s last campaign was in support of party candidates Shamsher Singh Gogi and Shalley Chaudhary. This event took place on September 11. Selja was also conspicuous by her absence at the event in Delhi where the Congress released its manifesto.
