Amaravati became witness to a milestone event as the Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital’s foundation stone-laying ceremony took place, a hospital that will cater to low-cost cancer care for poor patients from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. TThe hospital is to be constructed on land given by the Thulluru village administration, and the ceremony included the attendance of some key personalities, such as hospital chairman Nandamuri Balakrishna, Union Minister Pemmasani, Minister Narayana, and other officials.
Dr. Dattatreya Nori, Dr. Polavarapu Raghava Rao, and Dr. Gaddam Dasharatha Rami Reddy, who are actively supporting the hospital’s construction, also attended the ceremony. Their expertise and guidance are expected to play a crucial role in shaping the facility into a world-class center for cancer treatment.
The hospital has been designed in three phases, with it ultimately developing into a 1,000-bed medical center. The first phase will have 300 beds and is set to cost about ₹400 crore, with operations ready to commence in about 18 months.
Upon completion, the hospital plans to provide cancer treatment to the poor at an affordable rate so that they no longer have to make long journeys to Hyderabad to seek treatment. This plan is set to bring healthcare closer to home, providing hope and relief to thousands of families in the Telugu states.
