Basavatarakam Hospital Construction Speeds Up

Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital and Research Center in Amaravati is going great guns as the Andhra Pradesh government is moving ahead with plans to establish the facility. The government recently allotted 15 acres of land for the hospital, which will bring world-class cancer treatment and research to the region. Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna, along with CRDA Commissioner Katamneni Bhaskar, did a site inspection to gauge the progress of the project.

Site Obstacles Overcome Effectively
Upon site visit, it was observed that high-tension power lines were crossing the area selected for construction. CRDA officials immediately approached AP Transco to shift the lines. Work for shifting these lines has already been tendered so that it would not delay furthering the construction of the hospital.

Future Expansion Plans
The first phase will house 300 beds and may be extended to 1,000 beds in the future. Various designs have been finalized with a view to create a world-class health and research center for meeting the needs of quality cancer care across the region. This hospital will serve as a beacon to advance medical research and to make accessible treatment for the patients in Andhra Pradesh.

Construction to Start Shortly
Balakrishna, who is following the project closely, is hopeful that construction will take place in January 2024. The start of the construction depends on the timely removal of hurdles such as shifting of the electric lines and proper preparation of the construction site.

Back to Life: The Cancer Care Vision
A hospital concept of Basavatarakam Cancer was a conceptual notion conceived during the TDP regime from 2014-2019. Yet it experienced a lull for various reasons, as a different set of hands were steering the administration. It was just yesterday when the new government finally renewed hope for its completion so the concept of an advanced state-level healthcare infrastructure seems set for revival.

Setting its stamp on excellence
The Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital in Hyderabad has been the best cancer care institution, offering the latest treatments and research for years. The new hospital at Amaravati would strive to continue this legacy by making top-tier cancer treatment accessible to patients in Andhra Pradesh without having to travel far from their home.

This landmark project will not only enhance the state’s healthcare infrastructure but also offer thousands of cancer patients with advanced care and treatment options, setting a new standard for healthcare in the region.
