Bandi Sanjay pushed Pawan Kalyan Into Embarrassment on `Missing Girls’

Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s detailed answer on the missing girl children in Andhra Pradesh from the floor of Lok Sabha has pushed AP Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan into an embarrassing situation.

It may be recalled that earlier Pawan Kalyan’s accusation that over 30,000 girls were missing in the state during the YCP regime received aggressive response from the then ruling party in the state. Pawan Kalyan then alleged that these `missing’ girls were involved in trafficking, in which volunteers and some YCP cadre were key players.

But, Sanjay Kumar’s reply in the Lok Sabha to the questions raised by two TDP members Lavu Krishna Devaraya and BK Parthasarathy proved Pawan Kalyan’s accusations were false.

Explained with statistics. Bandi Sanjay said that in 2019, 6,896 complaints of missing girls/young women were received and 6,583 of them were traced by the police. In 2020, there were 7,576 complaints out of which 7,189 people were traced. In 2021, 10,085 complaints were received out of which 9,616 people were identified by the police.

10,433 complaints were received in 2022 about missing girls. Police identified 10,994 of them. Union Minister Bandi Sanjay explained the reasons why the number of people traced was more than the number of complaints that year. He said the number has increased in 2022 due to non-trace detection in previous years.

He explained to the Lok Sabha that there were 9,695 complaints of non-appearance in 2023 and 9,640 of them were identified. Moreover, in a way appreciating YS Jaganmohan Reddy government’s efforts in this regard, the minister said that the availability of the Disha app introduced during YCP regime and the friendly police service provided made them able to come to the police and lodge complaints freely.

YSRCP criticized Pawan Kalyan based on the answers given by Bandi Sanjay. It is said that there are many reasons for missing cases. It is believed that there are reasons for failure in exams, conflicts at home, mental disorders etc. It reminded that in all these incidents the police will register as missing cases.

It is estimated that those who are not traceable in the records may have settled down in their lives, and due to consequences like reconciliation with their respective families, they are also not recorded.

YSRCP has accused that Pawan Kalyan of using such cases politically to spread falsehood in the elections. Referring to that during Chandrababu Naidu’s previous regime also there were 1,542 girl missing cases, YCP leaders asked all of them were trafficked?
