Actor Nandamuri Balakrishna was recently honored with the prestigious Padma Bhushan award by the Government of India for his exceptional contributions to the film industry. A special felicitation ceremony was held at the Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital in Hyderabad, where Balakrishna shared his gratitude and reflections on his career milestones.
Speaking at the event, Balakrishna acknowledged completing 50 years in the film industry and securing his third term as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). He expressed that receiving such a significant award at this stage in his life felt particularly special. The actor emphasized the importance of performing one’s responsibilities with dedication, stating that awards and titles should not be the sole focus of life. “We must give back to the society that has given us so much,” he said.
Balakrishna also addressed the long-standing anticipation for the Padma Bhushan, mentioning that he believed the recognition had come at the right time. Reflecting on recent milestones, he noted the 100th birth anniversary of his father, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, and the 75th anniversary of his father’s film Mana Desham. He expressed joy over the success of his own films, which had contributed to the recognition.
The actor also spoke about his spiritual practices, explaining that he remained deeply connected to his faith through regular prayers.
Balakrishna thanked his fans for their continued support and affection, sharing that he felt their joy at receiving the award as though it was a shared achievement. “The love from my fans is a blessing from my past life,” he remarked.
Having served as the chairman of Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital for 15 years, Balakrishna expressed satisfaction with the hospital’s mission to serve those in need, underscoring his commitment to philanthropy and the welfare of the community.
