Tollywood producer Sreenivasa Kumar, renowned as SKN, has gained widespread recognition following the success of his film Baby and for his punches and his speeches at the events. His recent comments at the Dragon pre-release event on the Telugu-speaking heroines have stirred controversy.
His statement, “I have learned what happens if we encourage Telugu-speaking actresses. So, I now decided to encourage non-Telugu-speaking heroines,” led many to believe that he was referring to Baby actress Vaishnavi Chaitanya. Addressing the backlash, SKN released a video on his social media platform, X, to clarify that his comments were misinterpreted.
Clarifying his stance, in the statement he wrote, “Hi everyone, Namaste. I am one of the few producers who have introduced many Telugu actresses to the industry. A lighthearted comment I made recently was misunderstood, leading to unnecessary headlines with incorrect meanings.”
To clarify, I have introduced 8 talented individuals to the industry so far and am set to introduce 25 more talented Telugu girls across 4-5 different crafts in cinema through my next and upcoming films. Supporting and promoting Telugu talent has always been my priority. So please do not spread any misinformation. Thanks and regards,” he added.
In his video message, SKN highlighted that he had introduced and worked with many heroines, including Reshma, Anandhi, Manasa, Priyanka Jawalkar, Vaishnavi Chaitanya, Aishwarya, and Khushita. He announced that he is introducing Harika and another new Telugu actress in his future projects. We also worked with Eesha Rebba, Priya Vadlamani, and Inaya.
Additionally, he revealed that in his upcoming projects, the art director, executive producer, and writer are all Telugu women.
