The incident of assassination attempt on a TDP candidate in Balaji district created sending serious warning signals. When, Srikalahasti TDP candidate Bojjala Sudhir Reddy was campaigning in the 5th ward of the town, a man came near him seeking a selfie photo.
He tried to shake the hand of Sudheer Reddy. But when they got suspicious about his behavior, they found a knife in his pocket. TDP workers immediately caught him and handed him over to the police.
Bojjala Sudheer Reddy accused that a person with a knife was sent to attack him intentionally and expressed suspicion that all this was done as part of a conspiracy against him.
The name of the person who came with the knife was identified as Mahesh Kumar. His wife Meena Kumari gave the details. While Mahesh Kumar is resident of Chandragiri, his wife Meena Kumari hails from Srikalahasti is his.
As he became an alcoholic, his wife has been residing with her parents in Srikalahasti since some time. A few days ago, Mahesh came to her house. Meanwhile, the wife says that Mahesh had a fight with some people at the local jathara.
Meena Kumari says that Mahesh angrily came out of the house with a knife in anger at those who had quarreled with him at the jathara. On his way he found TDP candidate Sudhir Reddy was campaigning nearby and went to take a selfie.
The police have yet to respond to the incident. TDP candidate Sudheer Reddy is son of former TDP minister Bojjala Gopala Reddy, who is no more.
