In a fresh legal blow to senior YSRCP leader and former Andhra Pradesh minister Perni Nani, a Machilipatnam court has issued an arrest warrant against him. The development comes as the new coalition government intensifies its legal scrutiny on key figures from the previous YSRCP regime.
The case itself is an old one that went back to the time when Perni Nani was MLA for Bandar (Machilipatnam). He was made a witness in an old pending case against TDP activist Chandu Sriharsha. But even after several court notices and adjournments, Perni Nani allegedly did not attend the hearings, which caused the court to take stern action.
After several missed appearances, the court finally issued an arrest warrant to compel his attendance. Law enforcement authorities are now expected to serve the warrant and produce him before the court at the next scheduled hearing.
