Even before taking charge of the government, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu started sending clear signals to the officials, who were pillars of YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s corrupt regime, by sending them out without any post and also closing their offices, so that no paper should go out of the office.
The office of the AP State Mineral Development Corporation (APDMC), known as the epidemic center of YS Jagan’s corrupt regime, was locked at midnight. APMDC Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Venkata Reddy, who was holding dual posts as Director of Mines also was sacked.
Even though his deputation period was for another month only, the government issued an order removing him from the mines department. After that, within hours, the APMDC office was completely brought under the control of the police. This action was taken to ensure that important files, hard disks and other information in the office do not go out.
In Jagan’s regime, the department has faced numerous allegations of irregularities and corruption as the Department of Mines. There are allegations of corruption of thousands of crores of rupees in the process of auction, tenders and sale of sand, coal, beach sand, barytes and other minerals.
There are criticisms that the high officials of the mining department were responsible for those irregularities. The officials of the mining department have also misled the NGT and the High Court that there was no illegality in the sand mining.
The government fired APMDC MD Venkata Reddy on Friday night. Armed police force was sent to APMDC office in Poranki, Vijayawada on suspicion that something might happen there. Meanwhile, the police also seized the office of the Director of Mines Department in Ibrahimpatnam of NTR district.
On the other hand, State Industries Secretary N. Yuvraj took charge as Director of Mines Department and MD of MDC on Saturday. He also took charge as the Managing Director of AP State Fibernet Limited. M. Madhusudan Reddy, who has been acting as MD till now, has been fired by the government.
It may be recalled that the Jagan government had filed a false case alleging a scam related to TDP regime in Fibernet and also filed a charge sheet against Chandrababu Naidu and others. Now it has been alleged that along with the key files related to that false case, the files of the dark affairs of the YCP government in the last five years have also been destroyed.
