Chandrababu Naiud-led coalition government has started Kharif season paddy procurement facilitating farmers easy access and also depositing money into their accounts within 48 hours of selling their grains.
The AP government has brought reforms to simplify the process where they can sell their crop anywhere in the district, to any rice mill. Similarly, an easy method has been made available for grain sales through WhatsApp. An easy way has been made available for farmers to sell their hard-earned grain without any effort.
Just send Hi to 73373 59375 on WhatsApp…grain purchase services will be available. Farmers can book a slot by answering the questions asked by the Civil Supplies Department on WhatsApp about which center, on which day, at what time, what type of grain and how many bags they want to sell.
The Civil Supplies Department has posted a video on social media explaining how to book a slot for grain sales through WhatsApp. The government has said that it has purchased Rs. 314 crore of grain in the state so far.
In the wake of criticism that the previous government had purchased grain from farmers and not paid for months, the coalition government has focused on grain purchases and payments. The coalition government said that 84,724 farmers owed Rs. 1674.47 crore when the YSRCP stepped down.
The ministers said that the Chandrababu government paid those dues to the farmers. Coalition leaders say that the money for purchasing grain is currently being deposited in the accounts of farmers within 48 hours. They say that the government has paid Rs. 288 crore to the farmers so far and Rs 279 crore was deposited into their accounts.
As paddy harvesting has begun in many districts of AP, procurement centers are being set up in RBKs, cooperative societies and market yards under the auspices of the Civil Supplies Corporation. Grain moisture measuring machines and gunny bags are being sent to the purchase centers.
If farmers set up gunny bags, the government will pay Rs. 3.39 per bag. Similarly, Rs. 17.17 is being paid under the porter charges for the quintal. In addition, the government will pay the transport charges for transporting grain from the fields to the rice mills. The grain transport vehicles are being tracked using GPS.
